Quote: (Originally Posted by Deepwreck) On Saturday, I got a look at my very own MEG, a daunghting prospect as I only know about the CK. I arrived at the class a few minutes late, and quickly took my seat. Layed out before me was my new Mil Green MEG with all sorts of other counter lungs, hoses, regulators, paper work, don't forget the paper work, and 3 other students all looking as helpless as I. Well, just ordered mine and will have to wait another 3 months to know what it feels like. Have already sold my Inspiration, just need to find someone to my my brand new undived Sports Kiss that's currently on ebay PLUG PLUG PLUG PLUGWe started the discussion by writing our names on the board, and then adding another list of divers who all passed away diving the MEG. Sobering to think about that list. We were then asked to write down why our names will not be added to that list. I thought about my family, friends, and my diving style, then wrote about them and how I will take training and the advice of people who know that they are doing to assist me on living. That list is one place I could be very happy never so show up. We then continued on the building up the units, and customizing each one just for us. I have a Tras-plate harness and Trek wing, I added tank adapters (orange things with a tank strap), and rigged all the hosed to my liking. The counter lungs were the most difficult to get used to, as I am so fond of the CK clean chest area, but soon found a convienent way to connect them, and keep them out of my face. As the unit came to life, all I could do was stand back a lauph about how crazy I am to buy this unit. Diving will by fun. I couldn't wait so I jumped into the pool with the other students, on Saturday. (Me and one other strudent are taking the crossover class and the other two are taking the class for the first time, and they were scheduled to have pool time on saturday, and sunday.) I liked the way the system breathed but not the way it felt. This new unit was going to take some getting used to. Sunday morrning we prepped our units and spent the next 3 hours doing drills, swimming around the pool, and finally partally flooding the unit. My experience the second day was much better, and I found a happy middle ground for my configuration. I will need to tweek my system further once at the lake and diving on my normal configuration. (drysuit, argon, light, stages, ect) So in all, Im glad to have a CCR at home again, and I am begining to feel like I may be able to dive this new unit without to much problems soon. I look forward to this saturday, and sunday diving the unit in open water, and then later this summer diving to greater depths on wreck after wreck. My only regreat is that I think it will de to much work to take my new MEG with me to Cozumel in two weeks. DeepWreck. My training is doen by Ron Benson (deepthought) here in Minnesota, and I am very happy with his level of professioalism, and knowedge. ATB Nick

Hi Rich-At the risk of going slightly OT- could your give us an overview of how you arranged CCR logistics in Cozumel? It’s a great place to dive- your $$$ certainly go a long way- but I’ve yet to be able to find a place from whom to rent cylinders or buy ‘sorb, let alone an “uncomplicated” O2 source. All info appreciated. Very best, Ken |

All info appreciated. Very best, Ken I had it very easy, as we stayed at las lunas (laslunas.com). Oliver and Janie are great people and wonderful divers. Oliver has an Inspiration, and plenty of back up tanks, as well as AL40s. We did the 02 fills right at his place and went to one of the several fill stations to get top offs. They really are great people and catered to us immensely. Good people to spend time with too! We dove off two different boats. The first was divecozumel.net and the second was deepexposuredivecenter.com. Not sure what the logistics for O2 is with either, but Rollie (divecozumel.net) is listed on here as rebreather friendly. Either boat was great, but I did have a preference for deepexposure. Nice people there too. Looks like Chris Gregory and I converted their owner to a rebreather. He had dinner with Leon at BTS. Hopefully, some of this will help. If you'd like more you can pm me. By the way, they all really liked your O2 calibration kit for the Meg...so do I! Do you need anyone to test that new scrubber for you????
