| Despotic Overlord ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | One of the reasons i like the Meg As it is that easy to travel with! And I can use any size cylinders at the destination.... ![]() I have to be honest I toyed with transporting mine this way but unfortunately within Europe / Red Sea we have much less allowance in terms of dimensions for carry on luggage so i just carry the head in hand luggage and have a normal suitcase which I fit the rest in with my clothes... Leon tells me that the standard modus operandi for new customers is to take them over to the Samsonite outlet store near the factory where they pick a suitable carry on luggage bag which they then fit the entire Meg in - backplate and all, and with an alu BP its entirely practical... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That is a really fine US Poncho Liner that the case is lying on....... Damn, sometimes that was all I could get in my container on drops, no sleeping bag, little food, a great big radio and yes the 'Could you fit a mortar round in your container?' question from the doofus............... Brings back memories that does....... ![]()

Of course not.![]() I was able to put everything inside the daypack including a wing. Since I was using a SS plate, I didn't put it inside to save 6-lb. But I will be going to Sharm for 3 weeks again, I will try to pack the new SS case and Tobin's backplate next time. After a friend lost all 6 of his regulators coming back from Singapore, I will not trust my unit in checked luggage again. It is not just the cost of the unit, but the vacation would be ruined as well... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If only the inspo was so easy! [moan] To get my DS + kit + toothbrush to Sharm I had to undo every hose and put them in my pockets, along with the 1st stages. Entire scrubber went in daysack as hand luggage. Wing/case went in suitcase. A complete PITA to do, but if you are tighter than two coats of paint like me, you'll do anything to avoid excess baggage... ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Keep in mind that the hand luggage allowance is not that big everywhere. I had real issues going from Aus to NZ last year - it ended up having to go in the hold, as they objected to that much weight as hand luggage. However, this was also leaving from Brisbane airport, which is pretty notorious locally. It also took me about 2 hours to get past every second official in the place - not fun . This was far more hassle than bringing the unit back from the US had been,Thanks, Robert |
