| Southern Monkey Current Rebreather/s: | How many pieces of Velcro have you cut off each of your lungs? There are 3 down the centre and 3 down each edge which makes 9 pieces of Velcro in total per lung, how many have you cut off? Whilst on the subject... does anyone use the webbing loops on to hold the lungs onto their harness? Also... who has cut off the D-Rings and which ones? Does anyone actually use the D Rings for anything other than for parking the secondary console? And lastly which pieces do you regret cutting off? Edit: Opps forgot to add none to the poll - Sorry you will just have to say if you think that there are the right number and that none should be cut off! And it dropped the numbers from the poll - Doh 1 is at the top and 9 is at the bottom!!! Last edited by Gibbon : 18th April 2006 at 05:31. |

The inside is one continuous velcro flap that holds the HP guage, the outside loops are the same and are useful for holding in the classic handset cable-hose.Whilst on the subject... does anyone use the webbing loops on to hold the lungs onto their harness? | Re: How many pieces of Velcro have you cut off each of your lungs? By the looks of it, Leon has re-speced his velcro since I bought my meg. the tabs on my C/L are no more than 1/2" wide. I cut off all of the ones on the inside. I run the HP hoses through the channel in the back. The ADV and O2 manual add use the top two velcro tabs on the exhale lung. I don't have any LP hoses on the inhale lung. addited: ok so maybe they're 1" (or 2.54cm for those who don't habla imperial) Last edited by trob09 : 9th December 2006 at 16:37. |

I find the fastex buckles quite useful, but know others who have cut them off as well. The set of neoprene lungs I have don't have any velcro or channels & I find hose management a bit more of a challenge. |

I have a set of the neoprene ones as well (and far prefer using them- who are the normal ones made for- giants??). I don't route the hoses any differently- but then I don't use and of the velcro, straps or anything else for hose routing. The set of neoprene lungs I have don't have any velcro or channels & I find hose management a bit more of a challenge. I have an intrinsic aversion to fastex buckles- I just hate them and refuse to use them.

Ditto.Only thing left are the d-rings which I use to secure the CLs to the backplate (at top) and thru the crotch strap loop (at bottom). |

Yes the nylon ones have a substantial volume, don't they...I have an intrinsic aversion to fastex buckles- I just hate them and refuse to use them. As for the fastex, I am not surprised. Having used fastex gear extensively in mountaineering, I don't have a problem with it. |
