Apecs

Does anyone know or have heard when Apecs v3 will be arriving?

Re: Apecs

Leon is currently taking suggestions on what people would like to see in the APECS 3 but it will not be finished for a while. He said he was doing some EMI tests on the circuit boards.

Perhaps a year.

I've been looking at the Hammermeg heads from KJ. There pricey at US$ 2,995 but might be worth it if you can't wait for an on board computer.

Cheers

Seb

Re: Apecs

Don't forget to send him your wishlists.

He's already dumped the DCAP algorithm idea(yipee) due to feedback.

In Leons own words ' The new head will be way ahead of anything else'

Cheers

Seb,
In the long run its probably cheaper than an apecs 3 is going to cost... Leon will discount the meg without the electronics and you buy the HH from KJ (since its not an inspiration HH its a bit cheaper)..

From the numbers I have been hearing a HamerMeg is less than $1000 more than a standard meg..

I'd be interested where you heard those numbers, Joe.

When I looked into the option of getting Hammerhead, a meg with no electronics was $300 less than one with electronics (Apecs or shearwater). That put the hammermeg right around $2700 more than the shearwater meg that I ended up getting.

Perhaps things have changed & Leon reconsidered his pricing strategy after removing shearwater electronics from the line-up...

Re: Apecs

I met with Leon in October and we were talking about many different issuses and one of them being the new APECS 3 head. And me having the much older
package, the APECS 1.10 i asked him about the version and, we looking at the possibility of me ugrading to the newer version. And though it is impossible to say today what a future producs will cost to upgrade, Leons estimate was in the amount of 600USD...

Talking to Leon the other night, he said about 8 months. He wants to beta test the new heads / electronics over this years dive season.

Heres some more info I got off Leon via e-mail:

Quote:
Thank you for the info. We have considered about everything and ISC is going to make all the handsets interchangeable with both sides of the Meg and each handset will be a stand alone computer with its own backup power supply. The Megs will use a very expensive wet plug that is rated to 689 BAR that will be used for down loading and uploading software, logs and such. You will even be able to update a spare handset from the last dive if you need to .

The set point controller will always stay in the head with its own power supply.
James.

Re: Apecs

I would be very happy with just depth and dive time incorporated in the display. It's a pita having to look at multiple displays.

Re: Apecs

Do anyone know if it will be possible to upgrade from Apecs 2 to Apecs 3 when it comes without paying for the hole thing again.
With the dates I can see here I will get my Meg before the Apecs 3 is ready
