UK - Meg Ordering/ Delivering

Right then, I've bitten the bullet and am seriously considering a Meg, the ongoing saga of my Vision still keeps going round in circles and I have had to take stock of my diving for the year.

Basically, at present I have no unit and I have 2 options:
  1. Hang fire with AP and wait for the allusive software fix which is so far 7 months coming - No unit and no money
  2. Return my unit and order something else - No unit but money

Either way if something doesn't happen soon, my diving season is screwed

So I have thought long and hard and have decided that the Meg would be the best option for me, personally. So what I would like to ask from you guys and gals is for a little help with the following?
  1. What sort of waiting time can I expect on a Meg order for shipping to the UK? Am afraid going to the States at the moment is not an option
  2. Who/ Where would you recommend for training?
  3. Is the Meg course similar to the Inspo one? I know it is difficult to compare the 2 but in essence are they similar
  4. And finally, its the usual question of the Inspo and Evo, but this time its the Meg and Mini Meg? I've gone through all the stuff I can about the Meg, but would love to gauge the opinions from the Forum?

Sorry, if any of these questions may have been asked a million times before. But I'm being extremely cautious as I don't want to get bitten again. AP have seriously failed in the customer service department. Their customer shouldn't have to beg for some help. I know that Leon and Co are not the same, that everyone is different, but I just don't want it to go skywards again

Cheers in advance!
Lou

1 - waiting list same as any where else think its about 3ish months - ring up Leon for the details though.
2 - No questions if youaint going out to factory our very own decodiver - cant believe you had to ask ;-) I am sure he will give you a HUGE staff to staff discount...
3 - courses differw more on instructor and cert agency than unit - they so similiar - you shoud be able to do a cross over course IMHO - to be honest If I got an inspy I would absolutely not do a course...
4 - No questions on this you want a Meg not a mini-meg - only difference is mini meg is shorter very slightly lighter but WAY less run time. If you want slightly smaller / lilghter get leon to due you a cave meg can which will take standard scrubber.

Re: UK - Meg Ordering/ Delivering

Just a thought - is there any way you could get out there - you could hook up with Dave (wedivebc) and Leon and do your course together on vancouver island!

Are you sure that after all this time, if you give the unit back you will get a full refund?

Under UK law - if it has never been accepted as fit for purpose, then it's the law.

That's true in the US as well.

I rammed over $600,000 worth of product down a supplier's throat once when I ran my company over exactly this sort of issue - failure to meet formal specifications and thus unfit for purpose sold.....

They squawked a LOT but they DID eat it.

Aaaaah, home sweet home. Here in Italy once you part with your dosh, it's every man for himself.

But anyway, Lou if you get the Tri mix upgrade, won't your problems be solved?

Re: UK - Meg Ordering/ Delivering

They won't give it to her IIRC, though I can't figure out why.
Seeing that the nitrox and trimix software cost the same it doesn't make sense.
Then again, with Louby's leckies nothing does.

Re: UK - Meg Ordering/ Delivering

Lou;
What about making AP lend you a new set of the original electronics till they get the new stuff straight?
However, I like the law that says they must give you the money back. Over here in Texas we call it the ram it feature. Good luck.

Nick, I'm reluctant with the Trimix upgrade as well - nothing to substantiate any issues but there's part of me that isn't sure. To be honest it is more now of a case of loosing faith with AP in general. Anything that has been moved forward is because we have pushed. We had to almost beg for the loan of the Classics for my holiday, which we were told we would be able to keep until the fix was out, now they have gone back on the decision and have requested and have received back the loans because they need it for a trydive! Nothing has been forthcoming. It is the lack of customer service that has hit the final nail in the coffin for me.

I am awaiting a reply from Martin to a letter I sent/email I sent at the beginning of last week. I so far have had an email back saying I will receive a reply on Monday next week. Not once have I been offered an apology. Not once has anyone offered a solution. I've had to cancel a number of dives because of the issuses. I have lost 7 months of diving out of 9 months I have had the unit. For the £5.5k I paid, so far I have dived only about £800's worth.

It is pathetic, heartbreaking and fustrating to see £5.5k's worth of kit sat in the garage not being able to be used because of the settings issues and the timing. It is wrong that a system designed to be a primary setup continues to fail. Apparently they are still testing the new version, how long will this go on? This is something that should of been done before it was released!

My genuine questions regarding the Meg are because I can no longer trust AP or their Customer Service, which was a main issue in my decision to go down the Inspo route.
