| Johnny The Hatch Current Rebreather/s: | Megalodon mods Hi guys/ladies, I just wanted to hear from you guys what kinds of mods you are making on your Meg. One of the mods that come to my head, that i will probably do, is from tech blue, to use the same hose and then split it to two to connect the adv and the bcd inflation or diluent addition. What else are you doing? Please state also where to find it so i can have a look myself. /Jonny Last edited by JonnyB : 30th January 2006 at 16:41. |

| Re: Megalodon mods Hi Johnny- I’ve reconfigured my Meg to functionally do what you propose, but in a different and less expensive way: I installed a 90 degree fitting on the dil reg and a long second stage hose to my wings inflator, which is actually a Zeagle Octo + inflator-regulator. This also gives me direct OC access to my diluent. Be careful w/ plumbing of hose to the post type ADV that is now on the Meg (vs. the older Scubapro 2nd stage). If it pulls the ADV off at an angle the post, while it still will work, has a more difficult time contacting the back of the CL and activating w/ lungpower. I’m a big guy and wear a 7mm neoprene dry suit. The end result was that the stock length ADV hose was a bit short and open loop WOB was more difficult than it should have been. Manual activation by hand was unaffected. Going to a 2 inch longer hose for ADV solved the problem. My bailout cylinder is plumbed via a high flow QD to a manifold that feeds 3 items: BOV, dry suit, and the mixed gas valve on my exhale CL. This allows a sanity breath from a second gas source, not draining small dil bottle w/ dry suit, and semi closed bailout using off board gas all w/o any hose or valve reconfiguration- a sometimes challenging thing in very cold dark water. Stage also has conventional second stage reg on 6 ft hose that I can pass off or use for extended bailouts and a BC QD hose so buddy can use my stage for semi closed bail by hooking it up to his mixed gas valve. I’m still relatively new to the Meg, but this is what evolved after several iterations during training and after. It seems to make the best sense for the type of diving I do. I have little doubt it will again be tweaked as time goes on. Best, Ken |
