| Supporting Member ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Ok so here goes...my first 'sensible' post as a question!! Meg arrives on the 18th December, so I have to make a choice on 'wing' selection.... Question: Assuming a real bad day at black rock with a flooded canister, loop etc, and assuming a drysuit and counterlungs as bouyance reserves....what is the minimum required 'lift' spec. for a suitable wing for this meg given usuall luggage of torch, weightbelt (8KGS) and 7ltr bailout? Question:Easy answer is the recommended 'trek wing'or even Custom Divers new unit,...but thats not good news when I already have an eclipse single tank wing (Issit 30lbs or 40lbs?...how can I tell?) and a 'too large' flappy halcyon twinset wing!! (55lbs or 45lbs??how can I tell??) Will the eclipse suffice here? Does anyone out there have any advice? PS/ Zak....procrastination is the thief of time!!!.....it only took four months to make this decision...wots the hurry?? Notice I hav'nt mentioned porn sites this time!!

I wanted something that would have some lift if needed and the adjustability of the CD wing allows you all of those options. I also like the extra d-rings that it provides. Just My 2 cents... It has a lot of lift at the bottom and brings your but up. But try the ones you own first they might do you fine and save a few bucks for something else.Meg arrives on the 18th December, so I have to make a choice on 'wing' selection.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: meg wing choice I dove the Venture wing for over a year. Very happy with it. Recently I switched to the Golem35 wing. Much tougher, streamlined wing. It has more lift than Venture, handy for deeper dives. |

| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: meg wing choice I posted this in response to a question on the Prism forum, but since the wing was specifically designed for the Meg, thought I would post it here too.... A new wing is going to be introduced shortly that might work well for some that are shopping for a new wing. There is nothing radical about it, just a good basic design for ccrs that addresses several issues such as putting the buoyancy where it is needed (at the bottom under the cylinder valves). It does have an offset elbow between the cannister and cylinder (to allow easy access to your head and avoid getting in the way of the loop). More information will be available soon... I haved dived it for a while on my Meg and was happy to find the trim is spot on. Much better than wings typically used on doubles that have too much buoyancy up high and are generally overkill for what is needed on a rebreather. It is pretty low drag and swims very well in caves. It works great on my Meg, and should also work well for the KISS, Prism, and other breathers.. Here are a couple pics to get an idea of the wing: ![]() the one on the right ![]() ![]() Cheers, Mike |
