Leon asked me to mention that we have a new method of calibration we
have developed that uses no appreciable amount of oxygen, is fast and
easy to perform, and is accurate. If you go to the show Leon can
demonstrate the methodology. We will soon be providing this system of
calibration as an option for the MEG. Again, price and availability is
TBD.

Hi

Does anybody get any information about this method of calibration? Less O2 wasted for calibration sounds good to me.

Cheers

Calibration

Leon showed me how to do it at BTS show, With the head removed. You regulate the O/2 at 4 liters and put it into the top (with a hose in the middle of a cap) of the center hose connection and cap off the bottom, where you would have the connection to the canister, below the sensors. In 2 minute or less its done. He is working on more Caps and plugs to Kit it up for everyone to do it.
And off the tube for the oneway valve you put a hose to an O/2 Anayzer and can double check your readings.
He's (Leon) Very slick!

Thumbs up

That is very slick. And I like the idea of an attachment for secondary measurement.

Value

Just outta curiosity, what is the perceived value of the ISO certification?

I don't know what the perceived value is, but the real value is that you can sell to markets that require it.

It's like having a tank with DOT stamp in the US (vs. CE or TÜV). You can own and use the latter, but will have a hard time getting them inspected, filled, and it's illegal to cross state lines with anything but an empty tank. They are not better or worse, they just lack DOT approval.

BoF is an unknown quantity at this point
ISO 9000 is a quality assurance system that is regularly audited internally and by a third party. No markets require this for the equipment to be used. Indeed this kind of system is in place in all sorts of organisations from factories to software companies even government.

DOT and CE certification is quite different.

Please could you post some pics of the kit? Any idea of the price?

Hi Cedric,

Will do it when I get home - kit consists of:

Machined Plug for opening between head and scrubber
Extra Dust Cap for top of head
Tubing which fits through dust cap and into sensor area
Flow reducer & connection on end of tubing to connect into LP O2
Surgical tubing to connect to one way valve out of head to allow indpendant O2 analysier to be fitted.

Not sure about prices but not expensive.
