Re: Stress Crack in Meg lid

dont know about any body else out there but the cable orientation on the gland does seam to be a little too far round.

I wonder if the gland has been over tightened should be one complete thread still visible. the threads are an interference fit when the are inserted in manafacture this does make them tight and it is easy to bottom them out maybe this would cause stress on the threads and then a knock in genral diving use may be enough to crack the outer layer.

The Heads will take a hammering I know have know droped two heads now from about 3 ft and both on to concerete ( One of them being leons) he simply asked "was that expensive?" yes i replied.

Re: Stress Crack in Meg lid

If this was my Meg head that was cracked the only solution that would be acceptable to me would be to get a new head. Cracked head = New Head. Especially since it's leaking. I'm definately not going to put a patch on it and hope that it will work. I wouldn't think that sending it back to IS and having Leon replace the head would be that expensive as compared to my life.

Split off the PRISM posts and moved them into that forum.

Good luck with your head, Matt.

Re: Stress Crack in Meg lid

Thanks to all for your insight and opinions

I did send Leon a mail and will have it shipped to Innerspace to have the lid replaced. I don-t feel to fuzzy to glue it somewhat. I think a factory lid replacement is the way I would feel best about.

Greetings from the now bubbling diver ... and it sucks ...

Matt

Are you also taking an Alu option this time for the material of teh head... Or will you stay on Acetal material?

Re: Stress Crack in Meg lid

My eagle-eyed buddy has spotted a crack in my head-it is from the same fitting but at a slightly different angle and not as big as Matt's, extending about 7mm from the thread at this stage, also it has not opened up like the one in the picture. However it might be a good idea for everyone to check their heads if they haven't already (my unit is about 18 months old).

Cheers
