Packing axial scrubber

Hi

I have problems packing the axial scrubber, when I take the meg out on a bumpy RIB-trip i have notice that the sofno packs even more... making free space in the top of the scrubber, I have notice the problem when driving in a car fore 3-4 houers aswell...

I have really spent a lot of time packing the scrubber, so.... anyone has the same eksperiens?? some of my Meg buddies has the same problem..

regards

Michael

The amount of spring compression in the lid is approximately 2-3 cm. It should be fairly easy to pack enough to prevent that much settling.
Try packing in 3 steps, tapping the sides evenly with the flat of your hands while rotating the canister. Repeat as you fill the next 1/2rd. When you are done the springs should be fully compressed. You may also carry a small amount of scubber to add at the dive site, but you shouldn't need it.

yo

When done with your last 1/3 rd fill as described closed the scrubber lid and roll the scrubber on its side, get it vertical, tab again with flat hands, open the scrubber lid and refill. Repeat. The hold the scrubber canister directly to and against your ear and bend your head back and forth. Can you hear any loose granule ?. If so, repack.

If still having loose granule issues with or after bumpy rides try a top loader scrubber such as the Golem radial that compresses the absorbent material top to bottom by the spring tension as it settles during bumpy rides ... or store your unit upside down during the bumpy ride ...

Question: Who is Mr. Troll ?

greetings
Matt

a troll is a person who posts deliberately inflammatory messages. I live in hope that this user isn't as poorly trained or as dangerous as he appears.

Not knowing something this basic is seriously scary, if the original poster doesn't know how to pack correctly, they have no place diving a CCR.

Why does it matter whether the scrubber loads from the top as the golem radial does or the bottom like the ISC radial? The spring compression is the key is it not?

Re: Packing axial scrubber

No I am not a troll. thanks for your remark!!

as mentioned before i am not the only one that have seen this problem...

And a am not poorly trained either!

I think that the golem radialscrubber whith the spring in the top can pres the top of the lid down agenist the sofno...

I have seen this problem 2 times, and i have been diving my meg fore nearly 1½ year..

But I will try to pack my scrubber even better, but today jeg spendt about 20 minuts packing..

Re: Packing axial scrubber

If you drive for 4 hours, why not pack on site? Takes less than 20 minutes and works much better than compacting your scrubber to dust...

Re: Packing axial scrubber

Hi Michael.

I have a Golem radial scrubber.

The first time I packed it I had the same problem. Since then I have

1) Filled it so I could barely fit the lid.
2) Then roled it back and forth until I could compress the lid and tighten the nut.
3) Repeat 2) until the tightening nut was all the way down
4) Repeat everything a second and a third time.

Takes a bit of time :-)

Hope it makes sense?

Cheers
Morten
