| Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram I've converted my Meg O2 plumbing to allow the solenoid to be isolated in the event of a 'fail open' situation. This allows the O2 bottle valve to stay on and the Manual Addition Valve to continue to work, alleviating the need to reach back and feather the tank valve. I can't take credit for the idea (others on the board are already doing it); however, getting the parts sorted out was a major PITA and I thought I'd share my final setup and parts list. Total parts list cost $127 before tax and shipping. Parts were purchased through Dive Rite Express and Golem Gear (neither stocks all parts needed). Standard hoses were used and should be of length appropriate for your bottle placement and canister size. All of the new kit sits on top of the inhale CL just above the MAV and below the t-piece. I split the hoses around the t-piece which seems to hold it inline with the CL nicely. Hope this helps others looking to do the same modification. Eric

| Re: Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram Gregg Stanton should take the credit for the idea. He set this system up a couple of years ago and asked M&J to make a Y manifold slightly wider than normal so the shut off valve could run alongside the incomming oxygen from the 1st stage. Gregg has a kit available for Meg owners and you can contact him at g3stanton@aol.com . I fitted one to mine whilst diving with Gregg down in Florida a couple of years ago. It does make solenoid shutdown instant. Will try to get Gregg to put some details up for the list. Regards, Dave

| Re: Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram Like I said, I'm not taking credit for it. Just thought the details would help others sort it out since there is no information available on it. Gregg's concept is well sound. I didn't realize he was even the first. There are several on the board that have been doing this for a while, so I didn't want to name anyone in specific in case they were not the first. ![]() The setup makes a lot of sense and I've been meaning to get it plumbed out for some time now. With Miflex hoses, it's even sweater, lighter, and the hoses contour around the t-piece nicely. Gregg Stanton should take the credit for the idea. | Re: Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram Has there been a huge rash of solonoid failures on Megs? I think I would be inclined to worry about another failure point in the path that supplies O2 but if the solonoids fail often then I guess it could be worth the risk.

| Re: Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram Gregg thought about the need to control his oxygen in caves as he spends most of his diving inside them. There has not been a rash of failures at all but he saw the need for his diving. Just pointing out that the kit is available from a single source.

No. But feathering an O2 valve while scootering out or in tight quarters would be a real PITA.

| Re: Megalodon O2 Solenoid Isolation Plumbing Diagram I have been doing a similar thing for a couple of years since Rasmus a meg instructor in norway (nortech diving)made the shut of valves that fits directly to the first stage no need for isolators and y-blocks.
