OPV breakdown

I want to take apart my Meg OPV but its not apparent looking at it how to remove the plastic cover. A pic would be great.

In case you have any input there are three reasons I want to take it apart.

1) So i can make field repairs if needed in the future.
2) I do not feel it holds sufficient pressure during positive test compared to other Meg units. ie...the CL's do not get as hard.
3) I think it needs a cleaning as I can hear a slight noise coming out of it at times. 2 & 3 might be related.

Thanks, John

Good luck... I ended up shipping mine back to ISC for replacement...

It's a standard drysuit valve, so the retaining nut is on the inside of the CL.., and I believe it's been glued on during assembly...

Re: OPV breakdown

It's quite easily to open and service them, Si-tech even got instructions on how to do it. I scanned my copy. See attachment below.

Mine opened too easily too so I changed the internal spring inside it but I'm still gonna replace it with a normal bcd overpressure-/quickdumpvalve as I don't want to be able to accidentally dump any gas if squeezing through a wreck or simply just touch it during the dive. A ascent on OC will be much harder to do since I will have to dump more gas manually but I still think, with my small experience with rebreathers, that it's worth it.

I have the same problem and I try to open mine but i can't . I don't unterstand very well the user manual...

Where did you insert the screwdriver and in what position (lid screw clockwise or counter-clockwise)?
How did you take the lid off when the screwdriver is in place?
Have you some photos of the operation and when the OPV is open?

Thanks for help.

I dot have my camera here right now so I can't take any photos of it but I'll try to explain.

If you look on the side of the top lid, there is a square hole. Put a screwdriver inside the whole and bend the top lid of from the side. You dont have to screw the lid in some direction before taking it of, it can be in any position.

Ok, i don't see the little square hole on the side .

I take the lid off and add a washer on the bottom off the spring.
Must now try it in water.

Thanks.
