| Closed Circuit Divers Aus Current Rebreather/s: | Re: BC / wing advice for a Meg Hi Colin, I used Dive Rite Trek wing for a while until Matt and I ran through some rescue scenarios and it wasn't until then that I was aware that the 40lb wing wouldn't support me and my gear enough to enable me or anyone else to successfully hold my head out of the water. I guess I must have just bobbed up and down and grabbed a breath in between the swells!!! I am now diving with a Rive Rite Dual Rec wing and it is a lot better. Not only does the wing hold me up out of the water better but it has a redundant bladder just in case the primary fails. It has 51lb of lift and seems to have the buoyancy a bit lower than the Trek wing and helps getting your trim right. Regards, Lance

![]() | Re: BC / wing advice for a Meg Hi I used the OMS 60lb duel wing extensively - very nice wing for tec diving. On the Meg I decided to get the Meg Tetradon - its a 50lb donut wing and very affordable and very well made with mounting point for the armidillo rebreather butt plate - I have not had any butt heavy problems with it. In fresh water with a wetsuit I could remove all my counterlung trim weights. In salt water I have it down to one pound on each side. I just tightend the top bungies a little (but I am sure even without the bungies it will be a blast - just incase you are into that DIR thing, jou could remove the bungies quite easily). The only problem with the Donut wings are that they tend to pinch between the ground and the bottom of the canister, so some care is required. I just put a piece of motorvehicle inner tube around the bottom of the bladder. But all-in-all a very nice wing. I have also adapted it to use with my homemade OC side mount system and it resolved all the butt heavy problems there as well. Just for some interest "tetradon" refers to "four tooth" wich identifies the puffer fish family, I thought this was a nice play on words by ISC Cheers Dries |

![]() ![]() | Re: BC / wing advice for a Meg I use the Halcyon Eclipse wing for my meg. The bladder is a little longer than the length of the meg. So when I'm diving I can do a slight head down move to get the air to move into that pocket and I trim out real nice. I also use a 4lb weight on each shoulder. I thought about using the CCR 35, but someone told me that the wing tends to get in the way of the valves on the dil, and O2. As soon as the weather clears in my area I'm going to try and restrict the the airflow to the top of the wing with some bunge and see how that works out. The only other problem is that the power inflater on the Eclipse is a little short so I use bunge to hold it against the counter lung. I didn't do this when I took my class and during a drill I had a very hard time finding the power inflater. Let me know what you go with as I'm also looking for a better option. Thanks

| Respect the Classics! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: BC / wing advice for a Meg I don't have experience with a lot of different wings but I started out by getting the Tetradon wing from ISC. As already mentioned it is a ring wing with 50lbs of lift, very durrable material and is made for the Meg. Used it during my training and when I was properly weighted it trimmed out nicely. It has two draw strings at the bottom that are very easy to reach, one for a bottom dump valve and the other for one on top. Also the BC inflator did not need to be over my shoulder (where it would get in the way when doing diluent flushes) but I attached it to the outside top velcro on my counterlung and was able to reach back and bring it around easily. With aluminum 19's I needed a total of 8lbs up high to trim out. The wing helped with trimming when I actually put air in it at depth. Hope this helps. Thom |
