How We Wired All 3 Cells Into The Sheawater

Last year Andy Taylor with a bit of help from my good self designed the 4th cell/auxiliary adapter for the Meg allowing a cable to be fiited through the head without cutting or modifying the unit (see previous posts).
It worked extremely well with a VR3 but having a Shearwater only wired to 1 cell is a bit of a waste so we embarked on wiring it to all 3 cells.
Getting the cable through the head is easy with Andy,s little invention, its whats the best and simplest way to wire all 3 cells in that’s difficult especially for someone who fuses the house every time he fits a plug to something so I got in touch with John Routley at Narked@90.
I explained to John that I wanted to wire all 3 cells to my Shearwater but wanted to unwire it if neccesery in a few minutes on a rolling boat just incase anything went wrong on a trip. I also wanted it to be neat and tidy
(I hate wires everywhere).
John spent many hours making bits for me but in the end we decided the simplest and cheapest way was to push the pins strait into the back of the Megs Molex connectors ( see Shearwaters site, FAQ No7)

Below you will see the pictures I have taken.

In Order.......
1/ This is the Ficsher Cable from Narked@90 with the auxiliary adapter fitted.

2/ This is the exhalation hose fitting removed. The auxiliary fitting is then put in its place and the exhalation hose fitting is then fitted back on top adding about 3cm to the hose.

3/ This it the cable routed along the Meg cables so keeping it nice and neat and also strengthening the Megs cableing.

4/ Here you can see each of the 2 cables running into the top of each cell.

5/ Again you can see each of the 2 cables running into the top of each cell.

6/ The Meg and Shearwater working in perfect harmony haha. In water they work perfectly.

I would like to say a massive thanks to Andy Taylor for his help and to John Routley at Narked@90 for his patience and his help and also to Bruce at Shearwater for a superb product.

My COPIS has had the Shearwater wired to all 3 cells since day 1, and I couldn't be happier with it- You'll love it.

Re: How We Wired All 3 Cells Into The Sheawater

Is it me or does it look like cell 1 and 3 are in reverse display when you look at both hand sets? Just something I noticed. It could be coincidence that the values are exactly the same in reverse when read out on both handsets, or they are connected in reverse.

Re: How We Wired All 3 Cells Into The Sheawater

Meng Tez,

You know to much haha Yes the readings
are back to front but that is purely down to
my good self.
When I sent the wireing plans to John Routly
I didnt put which wire went to which cell so
it ended up back to front.
John is now fully aware so anymore will be in
the correct order.

As for price..... a bloody fortune in development
haha but now that its all sorted, anybody who
wants to do it will find that it costs about £90
for the cable from John and about £40 for the
adapter from Andy.

Regards,

Jeff
