| Re: ISC posts test data I was told that there are not. I got #537 in July last year. It would be interesting to find the exact number. Most be around 500 to 600 Meg out there. While certainly not scientifically valid in any sense, 638 RBW members list the Meg as unit owned....

I think Steve Stolen got can #500 and I was told that was pretty close to production numbers when it was built, about a year ago.

Still..., even w/ 10-20% turnover the number is up there compared to shipping s/n's..., and we're making the assumption everyone diving a Rebreather is 'plugged into' this community...~700 just dosn't seem outside the realm of possibility... when other folks are throwing 300-400 around....

The more ISC sell the better. My interest in the ISC numbers is in tracking accident risks, and to a lesser degree the market size growth in sports rebreather diving.~700 just dosn't seem outside the realm of possibility... when other folks are throwing 300-400 around.... ISC confirmed in writing to a presenter at the British Hyperbaric Society meeting last November that 500 units were out there in October 2007. That ties in with our figures around 350 to 400 ISC RBs that appear to be in use at least once a year. I need to write a paper on everyone's numbers, and put it on our web site under the accident section. I think everyone is in general agreement except for one mnfr in particular (not ISC). There is an anomaly that 650 people on Rebreather World claim to have Megs. Some of those are Megs people used to have but sold, some are people who's friend has a Meg that they used a few times, some are duplicate accounts. I think the 350 to 400 in use if a fair number, 500 sold from the time ISC started to Oct 2007 is a fair number, so it could be 600 around about now. 700 though is stretching a bit too far. I should add that ISC set a very good example in being open with this number, in serial numbering units sequentially and general honesty in this area. CCR Ltd, Steam Machines and others are doing the same. This is an important issue for those tracking safety. Alex Last edited by AD_ward9 : 30th March 2008 at 06:36. |

I would think that can IDs in the #800+ range must be in circulation by now, but some people will own more than one can I guess (I'm looking at getting another one myself). |

The units do not seem to leave ISC sequentially: but this shows the batch sizes from ISC have gone up a lot. | Re: ISC posts test date same test equipment/method? Thats very interesting and slightly concerning. Did you contact Kevin and inform him? Did you guys manage to work out why the results vary? Im sure he would change his chart if you could prove his data wrong. What did he say? the sheets are posted in another treadhthe tests have been done on the very same testing machine! in tryiing to reproduce the absolutely worst result, we completely taped a unit to prevent as much as possible water flowing in and out the unit... (there are pictures of that test) even under those circomstances we got +/- 4.7 joule/liter... far less then what kevin reported... (he reported so high that they could not mesure it..) the currunt units with the 90° elbows in the breathing hose have +/- 3.7 joule/liter, and with straith connectors 3.15 (all data for the 75 l/min, 3 liter tidal at 5bar absolute) Kevin never commented our results... so either the scrubber must have been flooded when the test was done, or the counterlung completely folded, and blocking the gaspath.. w'll never know paul
