Solenoid Servicing

What's the reccomendation on interval for Solenoid servicing on a Meg (Jaksa) ? Mines coming up to its first birthday and I'm thinking a strip and clean is appropriate but keen to know what others think / do.
Cheers
Steve

one year service on your solenoid, wouldn't let it go any longer then that.
personally, I clean and inspect every six month, but that's just me.

all the best.

Re: Solenoid Servicing

Re: Solenoid Servicing

Does anyone have detailed instructions for servicing the solenoid? When I was at ISC for my Mod 1 class, I asked about maintenance on it and they suggesting leaving it be. I thought this was a bit strange, but have followed their recommendation. I've not had any troubles with it, but it seems like it should be due for a service. Sadly, I have absolutely no idea how to do it properly.

Re: Solenoid Servicing

Isn't there any official advise from ISC? As a ISO 9001:2000 company they should have that I believe since this standard also looks at continuous customer satisfaction improvements. Customers/users of their products not knowing/being advised of the service intervals does not add to that satisfaction?

I do not know if they do/do not. I bought my Meg privately.

Re: Solenoid Servicing

They may have a maintenance schedule now, but when I took my class three years ago I asked about maintenance and they said "Replace it if it fails the tests... Otherwise leave it alone." I will call them today and ask if there is any updated information on this. Thanks for the link to those instructions.

Re: Solenoid Servicing

Called ISC and they said that there is no formal recommendation on solenoid service. They did, however, say that the O2 will degrade the O rings and that after three years, it's probably time to send it back to them for an overhaul. It figures that I checked right at the start of the diving season.

I got the feeling they would prefer to do the service, but it is not a standard part of a head service unless the customer asks for it to be done.

It's been working for a year now since I serviced it myself. I used a very light coating of Cristolube on the barrel. No operating issues to note.
