After picking up the unit and doing a negative and positive test which it pass no problem, I notice a 1/4" ripe in the exhale hose. Cost about $70 to get a set delivered to house. I was shock that it didn't damage the Swagelok O2 feed. I guess the hose took all the weight, I think I'm the only diver that ever damage on of those heavy duty Meg hose.lesson learnedAl
are the hoses on the meg your basic scuba oc hoses or are they some special order only jobs that isc hast to supply?

about the sticking valves... im in the air wing so doign pre-ops and post-op inspections dont bother me. we get into a verry systematic inspection habbit with all gear. i explain it like this in a car if the motor dies because of poor maintance or no preventatave maintance you can pull off the side of the road and call a tow truck. when your in a plane or a helo for that fact and something goes wrong for the sole reason you did not check it lube it or what not, well you die... and ccr's are no diffrent unless i get a gill transplanted

Same hoses (LP) just custom length and the O2 feed has a special QC fitting. Those are supplied with the rebreather.

Re: how did you break it??

Well I guess I am not the only brute to my unit. I also dropped my Meg of the tailgate of my truck onto blacktop parking area. It landed on its head but luckily it was on the back quarter and only the edge of the cover got scratched and the tie down clip bent. It worked perfectly the rest of the trip no problem.
I also have had the solenoid stuck partly open due to a piece of crap hung up inside. I took it apart ran it through the utrasonic and reassembled it, good to go. The manual O2 valve (offboard injection since I use the left lung for O2 add.) stuck a couple of times, taking off the nipple and infusing some O2 lube, then blowing in some O2 did the trick.
I off course knew it was going to be a good unit, because on my first day of training with it, I was walking to the river, I slipped on a wet and slimy ramp and landed on my butt towards my back. The dill tank valve took most of the impact and actually broke off the valve. So out of the water I go and lets find a new valve.
The batteries were also a learning experience I must have trashed about 3 or 4 packs by forgetting to turn off the unit. I picked up some molex connectors and learned to solder my own. You may find that 2 C-cells lithium ion 3.6 volts will be quite worth while for your primary.
All in all I made a couple of mods to the original and do not regret this purchase. It has proven to be solid, dependable and easy to maintain. I am a proud owner, and do hug my meg daily.

Well it was the exhale loop hose that got damage, the short one from the T-piece to the head (11" long hose), I'm pretty sure that they are special hoses that are design to fit the Megalodon. I temporary used a hose from a military Rebreather and it work just fine.
