![]() | COPIS question Howdy folks, I am in the process of researching rebreathers so that hopefully one day I will be able to call one my own. I am currently looking at several of them, but essentially my budget precludes me from going all out new ECCR. However some of my criteria include for the unit to be simple, reliable, and tough as a tank and from everything I have read the Meg falls into that category. Which brings me back to the budget issue. The question is pretty simple, if I bought a COPIS...I can then later later later upgrade to an Apecs (or HH or whatever) head and turn the COPIS into a ECCR (I am not sure I even want to go that route, MCCR maybe what fits my diving style the best). --- True? If true, how much would such an upgrade cost? COPIS and CK are on the top of my list by the way. Thanks in advance, Sherman |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: COPIS question You can call ISC for upgrading the Copis head. Another option is to keep the Copis as a backup and buy either a new Apecs eccr head or get a Hammer Meg head from Kevin. Lots of options with the Meg. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: COPIS question I bought my COPIS 3 months ago, thinking I might upgrade to APECS down the road. ~50 dives later, I don't see any point in doing that- I love my mCCR, it will do every dive I want to do just fine. And I don't have to worry about a solenoid going funny on me, either. Hearty thumbs up for the COPIS, but I wouldn't rule out the Classic Kiss, either- those were my "top 2" as well, btw. |

![]() | Re: COPIS question The advantage of the COPIS is that you can upgrade in the future to an APECS 2 or even to the APECS 3 whenever it's release by ISC. The upgrade for the APECS 2 should be around 3000$, the APECS 3 will be a lot more. The Meg is build like a tank and should last you for a long time. Cheers Al

Unless your pushing beyond the IP depth limitation, I think the COPIS, expecially the new generation w/ HUD, is a fine choice... Don't think of it as a second rate unit...! I'm kicking around the idea of a backup COPIS head or making my own mCCR iteration... |

Hi, Why is it not necessary to calibrate the COPISII every dive? or is this irrespective of the type of unit - depending on what/when you are diving etc? Thanks |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: COPIS question Hi, Why would you re calibrate a unit that was already calibrated correctly? My hammerhead can go weeks between calibrations. The calibration gets checked before every dive (air and pure O2) but it doesn't get re calibrated unless doesn't match the known gases. Why is it not necessary to calibrate the COPISII every dive? or is this irrespective of the type of unit - depending on what/when you are diving etc? The new COPIS II retains calibration data. Why is it not necessary to calibrate the COPISII every dive? or is this irrespective of the type of unit - depending on what/when you are diving etc? Thanks
