Yes....ISC are now supplying it with both APECS and COPIS units.

Funny to mentioned it, but i have just seen in in real. it looks great idea. just angry i dont have it myself on my unit.

do you know if there can be an upgrade on the unit with 2.01k ?

i'll send an email, but just want to know if anyone has done it...

Thanks again.

Likely just a replacement of the modular HUD... Based on year past pricelists for HUD upgrades, I'd expect something in the neighborhood of ~$300

The reason is the previous had two LED's outputting to a single display..., one red, one green... when both fired you got amber...

So, from the electronics side, nothing has changed... it's still telling the same LED's to fire..., they are just now going to seperate display points along the physical cable...

Another student in my recent class had one as well... This change is VERY new... i.e last 2-3 weeks.

well, i've seen it and i think since there is a red lead and a green now, the red should go on between the greens. instead of having the pause, the red should go on. i think that this way, there wouldn't be any confusion as to "how long did that pause go on for"? then you really know that you had 2 or 3 flashes of green, and a red, then 2 or 3 flashes or green etc...

amber is fine. red, i don't mind, as red for me is not great, but they could do it the other way around.

just a thought. i really think it could be done, as is just software....

what do you think?

Re: New HUD

I wonder how long it will be before this makes it onto the website? I talked to Leon at DEMA about the wing and the answer was in a couple of weeks. Then I talked to him about the wing at the South FL Dive Show, and he said a couple of weeks. Here we are over 4 months later and still no wing marketed. I guess I should just call him, but it seems silly that you have to be in the know in order to be aware that an item is available. Tribal knowledge I guess???

I was just bitching about the amber on my HUD during high ambient light dives. I'm not color blind (or I'd be out of a job), but the amber is hard for anyone to see when diving in very light conditions. I kind of wish the HUD would just blink green for above setpoint, blink red for at setpoint, and solid red for below setpoint. Anything below setpoint should be getting your attention anyway. I believe there is another thread on the idea of manufacturers settling on an industry standard, whatever it may be.

Re: New HUD

I was just putting it out there for informative reasons - not to start a bitch session. I don't think it really matters. I don't often dive a 1.0 that often anyway. It doesn't really matter how they get the information across as long as you and your buddy understand it. For example - I don't like the evo with just a green hud light on - I can't look at my buddy and see what her setpoint is - which is something I like to know. I'm still using the single LED and she will be using the dual LED - I like the single better because I'm used to it (that's my first thought) but I don't know yet. I also liked the HUD telling me what my PO2 was down to a .2 (8 red flashes) - now it doesn't. I got mine upgraded so we are diving the same gear - It's just a change - I don't think it's particulary good or bad - just a change - which most of us don't like...

You can't tell what the setpoint is on the Meg either. That was my point.

You can't tell what the programmed setpoint is (I wasn't referring to that), but you can tell the exact po2 at any given time by a quick glance at your buddies HUD on a Meg.

True. It's great when diving with Meg buddies and knowing that everyone is on the same setpoint and using the HUD for PO2 cross-checking.

Re: New HUD

I never used the old HUD so I have nothing to compare it to but I have using the new COPIS 2 HUD and it is pretty good. I can see why ISC binned amber as green quickly looks like amber as you descend (before you lose all ambient light where it looks green again) so it could potentially be confusing in certain conditions...

The only (minor) criticism of the new system is that at 1.0 it flashes red and green but depending on the ambient lighting I occasionally only see the red as the green can be harder to see (but nothing a quick check on the wrist display doesn't clarify).

Overall I like it.

I noticed the same thing with the new HUD. It's only a problem, for me anyway, in high ambient light conditions. I thought something was wrong at first because all I could see was the red LED flashing once and the handset was displaying 1.0. I put my hand over the HUD for a little shade and I could then see the green LED flashing also. I have no problem seeing the green LED in medium to low ambient light conditions.
