![]() | DragerSorb and megs Just had a guy drop a comment on me regarding Megs and DragerSorb. It was in regard to a dive trip on a live-abroad boat. This guy said that his instructor told him not to use Dragersorb with his Meg because of an increased risk of break through ??? He mentioned that he had a radial scrubber in his Meg and this was the reason for the instructor warning ??? This sound oh sooooooo strange to me. Given that Megs are not my unit of choice I was wondering if this is correct. I have no clue as to what he means in regard to a radial scrubber on his Meg (mini meg scrubber ???). regards Baz |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: DragerSorb and megs I've breathed through a good 60Kg's or so of Divesorb in both my axial and radial. The only noteworthy aspects about Divesorb I didn't like was that it was rather dusty and hard to breath in comparison to Sperasorb (edit: and more expensive). No other issue(s). Considering that Dragersorb is 5-9 mesh-bigger than 8-12 Sofno or 6-12 Sodasorb-and that it's designed for use in an SCR, where CO2 buildup is less likely to begin with, I'd guess that in a radial with it's shorter grain boundry and lower WOB than an axial, the potential for gas passing through before it's properly scrubbed due to a high work rate is certainly possible. The Prism radial is designed for use with 6-12/8-12-bigger mesh szes are not recomended for anything other than pool training and I guess that could very well be the reason... -Andy |

Thats my thought. I believe the guy in question is looking at making mix dives in the 60+ range and as C02 is a 10/10 for pre-disposing a diver to most major diving problems it always good to use quality recommended sorb.Considering that Dragersorb is 5-9 mesh-bigger than 8-12 Sofno or 6-12 Sodasorb-and that it's designed for use in an SCR, where CO2 buildup is less likely to begin with, I'd guess that in a radial with it's shorter grain boundry and lower WOB than an axial, the potential for gas passing through before it's properly scrubbed due to a high work rate is certainly possible.
