Question APECS 3.0 almost here?

Just read on Rich Stevenson's homepage Deep Blue Diving that you can pre-order APECS 3.0.

Does anybody know more about this?

Cheers

If this is the case I for one will be looking else where for my next unit. This was promised when I bought mine in early 2006 and was one of the reasons I opted for this unit. It would be good if ISC could make a statement one way or the other.

It's one of the reasons I discounted the Meg when I ordered my Vision in late 2006 - it was just round the corner then, but had already been delayed by at least 6 months (and probably longer - I was even newer to this game then than I am now :-)

I think it's a great shame that ISC haven't got this into production yet, several years after it was just around the corner. There are several units that are very far ahead of the Meg on the electronics front, plus several very good aftermarket controllers, so they must be losing out on sales and revenue.

Cheers,

My friend Phil
The point is not to buy a unit with Deco software on but buy a unit with PROPER software on to keep you away from problems and away from electronics failures. You can see how other units are. So i am telling right now that it will worth the waiting time when they ll be released. So, when they release them you will probably have the best unit on the market then. and dont forget what they say......

Re: APECS 3.0 almost here?

I think preparing for CE testing has a higher priority...
It takes to long but I believe that is better then rushing it and not getting it right like on many other products on the rebreathermarket.

That's a very valid point and one I took into account. In the meantime, I've been diving a CE approved unit with full onboard deco calculation and a controller that can keep PO2 within a sensible range, which has support that is local to me and a massive global installed base, for over a year

I do get the argument for Apecs 3, I'm merely pointing out that the argument for waiting for it is not one sided. There are flaws in all units and the Apecs 2 Meg is no exception - therefore, there is no particular reason to assume that Apecs 3 is going to be so much better than other products (Vision, Hammerhead, Shearwater etc) that are already out there and already proven. It's your call to wait - all I said was that I chose not to.

Cheers,

I agree but a quick search on the web show late 2004 early 2005 as the first mentioning of the product and its feature set. That is a long time to get it right in any ones book.

Dear Mdsourou,

Being a loyal Meg diver I follow your sentiment, however ......

From a retail, service and customer point of view there is a saying,

'Under promise, over deliver' - i.e. in this case, give us a time scale then beat it .....

What we are actually getting is 'Over promise, Under deliver'. I am waiting keenly for version 3.0 but rather than hold my breath, would like to be told 'It's gonna be at least two years' etc.

By the way, you do realise you have to be fit to dive CCR, by the looks of your avatar, you have a ways to go - best get the joggers on

All the best.
