![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Shoulder Weighting the Meg I made a pocket I like to call a "weight wing". It is a simple pocket with two grommets that fit the STA bolts, velcro closure (for now), easy dump handles and can be installed (or not) between the wing and the can or the wing and the BP. It holds a max of 4x5lbs bricks, two on each side. I've dived it a few times so far and it works well. It's a bit tight when using solid 5lb bricks because of the position of the hose (jubilee) clamp screws that hold the Shadow mounts. I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight to show here. I use a hose clamp to attach it to the bottom-now-top of the tank, and stick whatever size weights I choose underneath. Voila! Cheap, compact, effective, flexible, lightweight, shoulderheight and secure. Credit to John Priestley, he came up with the idea. In the pic you can see me walking on water in Scapa, with said weight attachments.

Pockets on backplate ![]() Basically you can use any pockets, just put some eyelets in and bolt to BP. They can go horizontally as long as the weights are in securely.

Man I hate to quote myself but for the sake of context...here's my contraption. The only advantage it has over Dave's and other's systems is that it holds up to 20lbs so it can take care of all the weight needed for a drysuit dive (especially with a SS BP), no belt required. It does however make the whole Meg a heavy SOB.I agree, there are many way to do this. Tibby As you can see it is also ditchable, not easily though. I don't particularly care for ditching weights but it turned out that way because I wanted a handle to open the flaps easier. Enjoy Tibby

![]() | Re: Shoulder Weighting the Meg Tibby - looks like a really neat solution. Do you have drawings/measurements you could share? I'd like to try and make something similar. I've just switched drysuits and having just sorted out my weighting on the Meg, suddenly need to find a place for extra weight. This solution looks ideal. Garry |

Glad you like it. I'll try to get some measurements but I don't normally measure when I make things and surely don't make a drawing (call me reckless Garry ). It's very much an eyeballing process. As long as the pocket is big enough to clear the scrubber can's radius you should be fine. You can also use a heavy duty zipper instead of the velcro flap. This would make it easier to load/unload the weights because you don't have to tuck in the flap.Tibby
