| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Lights Out Part two Well I promised to keep you guys posted and here you have it...sorry that it took soooooooo loooooooooooooooooooooong but actually my HEAD is still at ISC...but it's only like a month or so... Result: My secondary electronics are fried! To the people who follow my threats a bit: yes, AGAIN!!!! Funny thing though is, that last time I've sent them my re-chargeable Nimha Batteries they told me that they are fine to use (Polarity and Voltage check out just fine) and now they make them responsible for frying the electronics and charge me an arm and a leg for new electronics... To sum up my Meg history: Fried electronics in June due to wrongly wired battery pack coming from ISC, I paid about 1000USD because I unfortunetly dustbined the batterypack and couldn't proof it...(just got an e-mail 10min ago that they found the old pack by a total coincidence so I'm going to send it to them and see what happens, I doubt though they are going to refund my money...) Fried electronics in November due to ... well ... who knows, but while using a battery pack inspected and oked by ISC and well I pay again this time about 840USD what I did wrong, well I can't answer that either... Fantastic no??? BUT, my Head is still there and I'm still mailing back and fwd with Jerry and I will keep you posted on the outcome... So far though I can just tell anybody, if you buy a meg, pray to god it never brakes because it will be expensive no matter if it's your fault or theirs... I hope they are going to change their attitude but I really regret already that I went for that "un-breakable" Unit!!!! For the money I spent together with the repairs I could have baught two from another brand almost... Cheers, Patrick |

IMHO, there is no such unit as "unbreakable". And all units have issues. Thus buying something that with easy local access for repairs, spare parts, etc. sometimes makes the difference of how long you can't dive the unit. A lot of companies forget about the shipping cost (plus hassles for International owners) even when the repair is free from their own mess-up. |

If I could, I'd gladly trade my melon-lumbar(lower back) for your unit. At least your problem can get repaired (theoretically that is) As they say, happens. |

After several trips back to the shop I asked the owner to stop trying to fix mine and send me a new one. I guess even the best rebreather manufacturers can make a lemon once in a while.

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Lights Out Part two Hey Spyros, Well considering my state of mind, I'm not worried a minute no matter how deep or long the dive is, since I always plan for failures. A new Unit would not change that, I would still plan for it to f**** up during the dive! So far I had a solenoid stuck open during a cave dive and then the electronics died on me on that 80m sink hole dive. Both times I ended the dive without any complications thinking already about the hustle of sending the Unit and the looong time without my CCR. I'm also not angry that my Unit is broken again, well as you said it happens the thing that really p***** me off though is that no matter what happens it's never a warranty case with them. I really treat my Unit like it would be a new born and belive me or not neither times it was my fault or I even had anything to do with my electronics beeing fried and still I always have to pay a sh*** load of money for it. CCR diving is expensive I agree but not like that... In my opinion there should be a better warranty system... Thanks for your sympathies, Patrick i am also sorry and sympathize with you for having all these problems with your unit. i also own a meg and so far am happy with it, but i have to agree with Gilles that "..it happens". i have to ask you though. would you feel comfortable if they fixed it for you? i mean would you go and do those deep and long deco dives? its scary to have those thoughts on your head, you'll probably never get the peace of mind you are supposed to have... i reckon that you should bargain to trade your unit for a new one. even if it will cost you a bit more. only you can "translate" what is a bit more. if it was me, this is what i would do. peace of mind is priceless. i truly hope this story comes to an end for you.
