Re: hammerhead for meg

I have the Hammerhead on my meg (actually 2 different heads) and have not seen an electronics package that I would prefer over the HammerHead. It does (nearly) everything I want it to do.

Leon will not sell you a HammerMeg, but will send a head (or head parts) to Kevin for him to install the HH. Kevin has quoted his prices here on Rebreather World - my recollection is that I paid around $3,500 for the HH installed on lid materials from ISC. Lid parts cost $1,500 from ISC.

Kevin's site shows the handsets, but you won't get the DIVA that comes with the Hammerhead, but rather will get the ISC HUD. this has to do with cable thickness (Kevin, correct me if I'm wrong...)

After several dismal experiences with other electronics on my Meg, I am quite pleased with the hammerhead.

Re: hammerhead for meg

The new Meg Heads that ISC makes use a Swagelok fitting which does not come in 3/16" size, so we do not fit the DIVA cable on the new HammerMegs.

We've found about a 60/40 split guys opting for the Meg HUD over the DIVA, and we're happy to support either one.

Tim,

That's $5000 just for the electronic "part" of your Meg.

Adding the rest of the Meg, and the original head as spare, you have just bought a... Boris.

And add another $3500 for the second Hammerhead head.
and $2,000 for the Cis Scrubber
and $750 for the golemgear BOV
and $600 for neoprene lungs

and you can see that I've invested quite a bit for my Hammermeg.....

But hey, I did get a free t-shirt from Kevin. and a couple of bumper-stickers too. I never did get the Hat from ISC...

I added it all up, and I was incorrect at the first conclusion. You actually bought an original... Cis-Lunar.

I think you have the most expensive Meg set-up that I know of. None of my rigs even anywhere near that sticker price...

There you go, it is always the free-give-away that keep them coming back...

A couple of us have joked that we've converted our megs to Cis Lunars. At the very least, there's very little "meg" left in my meg.

Just don't tell my wife. She thinks everyone spends this way on their rebreathers....

Re: hammerhead for meg

Tim,

I know you will need a soleniod and a HUD to convert to a Hammermeg if you decide to keep your old head. Does the $1500 include a new head from ISC?

Re: hammerhead for meg

the 1500 included all the parts from ISC required to build a hammermeg head - lid plate, sensor carriage & retaining plate, solenoid & swagelok connector bits, hud, etc. Steve at ISC FedEx'd them to Kevin and about a week later the finished product was in my hands.

If you send Kevin your old head, you don't need to pay anything to ISC. I bought the extra parts so that I could have a back-up head for longer trips.

Here's the text from the ISC invoice for the head:
Kit: Megalodon Headplate with all accessories for supporting Hammerhead
Electronics, to include:
APECS2 Headplate + O-rings
Sensor Carriage Body + O-ring
Sensor Carriage Water Trap Port Sealing Plug + Gasket + screws (installed)
Sensor Carriage Cap Assembly (assembled) + O-riings
4 Sensor Carriage Studs
1 HUD (Heads Up Display)
RH Exhale Hose Port + o-ring
RH Inhale Hose Port + o-ring
Lid Handle + screws
Molex Connector parts for sensor carriage wire harness
Jaksa Solenoid
Jaksa Solenoid Base
1/8" NPT Swagelok fitting for solenoid
Solenoid Feed Tube
Bulkhead fitting + 2 washers
011 o-ring for bulkhead fitting + 1 spare
1/8 npt elbow male-female
Swagelok QC4 Female Body
O2 Feed Support Block
3 Swagelok Cable Fittings (Installed with locking set screws)
1 Head Plate Accessory Port Plug with o-ring (installed)
Related screw kit
Shipping FedEx 3day Express Economy (6 lbs) to Juergensen Marine
