ok looks like an expensive proposition to hammerhead the eccr meg. if you go the copis route, essentially it is the same $5K on top of the cheaper copis unit, am i right? on a different note, how many guys using the eccr meg with a VR3/ HS explorer for deco? and if so, do you fly the computer w/ manual set points or plumb for a 4th cell in the counterlung?

i am looking to get either a meg or an optima. i like certain things about the optima but some things i don't. i know the new hammerhead/golem gear eccr seems very attractive, but i am reluctant to purchase a brand new on the market ccr. i would like to see some track record on the unit first

this will be my first 'breather, so all help is appreciated
If you are looking to convert a copis meg to Hammerhead, it will be approx $3500. If you are looking to keep the copis head and also have a hammerhead head for the meg, it will be approx $5000.

About the HH eccr we can say that all parts on it have a proven track record, the scrubber, electronics mouthpiece etc. Maybe the lungs are brand new and some fittings but still it looks like a great unit.

I would certainly not steer you away from the Meg. It's a great unit in either the copis or eCCR configuration.

However, the hammerhead eCCR shouldn't be considered "new" IMO. The basic head/electronics package has been out there for quite awhile and you can read alot about support and performance in other threads. The stability of the manufacturer should only have increased recently with the Defense contract award. If you really like the eCCR HH, I would discount the "new" problem a bit.

Good luck in your decision.

i do with manual set point. My setpoint is pretty close to 1.3 so having a fourth cell wouldn't make much difference to deco obligations. I believe this is pretty common to run deco from a vr3 without a fourth cell.
