| Re: Meg travel Hi Just ordered a Meg on Monday, when I spoke to Leon about cases he suggested a Storm case because it is lighter and cheaper. He could not remember the model number but it was a pull along. So that is what I am getting, going to Leons place for pickup and training 15 to 21 of May so hopefully I can get it on the plane home with me What is the unit weight without cylinders? (no case) Peter |

(no case) Peter Looks like he was talking about the Im2500. It say's it's good for carry on. But, It's larger then the UK I use. And that just barely fits carry on. They must be using different numbers. max legal is 45. The IM2500 is 21.7x14.1x8.9 total is 45.7 So, if someone wants to get picky. It isn't legal... | I actually just use soft sided luggage I bought at Costco. In addition, I purchased a closed cell foam pad (the type used for backpacking) that I got from K-mart and cut this to make inserts in the front, back and sides. Reason I don't like the hard sided bags like the Pelican are that the hard shells just transmit the impacts to whatever is inside. Also, everything tends to slide around inside the case. So unless you do a diligent job in packing in foam inside the case or wrapping everthing with towels, clothes, etc., it can get banged around pretty good. My observation sitting at airports and watching baggage handlers do their job is that the luggage gets kicked around and dropped quite a bit. I'd rather have luggage that absorbs the impact on the outside rather than transmitting the impact to whatever is inside. Also, the softsided luggage rolls around nicely, is fairly light, and doesn't say to everyone looking at it "Hey! Something expensive inside this baby." Bob.

| Cap Ron scourge of the NW ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Meg travel I will tell you what I have been doing for Rebreather travel and have had no problems in 5 years. I use a TravelPro roller suitcase, just like the flight crew's use. Mine is 6 years old now and still very servicable. We got Patti one for her mini too. I put in the Meg, head, counterlungs, regulators and hoses, breathing loop and even sometimes a fully packed scrubber. Sure its a bit heavy, but it fits in every overhead (remember its made for professional flyers) and it rolls behind you. I usually get looked at cause it looks weird to the xray, but I just look stupid and keep repeating the word "SCUBA", or Buceo (spanish for scuba). Sometimes it helps to have a dive polo type shirt on. I frequently wear my Navy EDU shirt. Smile and dont be rude or in a hurry, get to the airport early so you are not stressed, it allows things to go much smoother. a little courtesy goes a long way with folks who have a tough job, put yourselves in thier shoes.
