Hello Megalodon divers

I am a Inspiration Classic diver with HS Explorer + 4th cell. If I want to change to Megalodon, what will I get more in comparision with the Inspiration Vision? What is better in Megalodon? How about the service? Only possible in the US?

Hi Anssi,

I think some of the replys have missed your point- "what will I get more in comparision with the Inspiration Vision?" To which the answer has to be- You get less!

Modularity and assumed robustness to one side- the Vision has full singing and dancing deco, the Meg does not, The Vision has a Temp stick, the Meg has an optional radial (long duration?) scrubber, The Meg is built in the US, the Inspiration in UK, the Vision is (soon anyway) available with a BOV, the Meg isn't BUT both can be fitted with a 3rd party one anyway.

Other than the previously discussed manufacturing and design differences the functionality and performance of your Inspiration and the Meg are not dissimilar (out of the box)

As an unbaised observer who has seen both Inspirations Classic, Vision and Megs in action that the Meg is "just" a toughened, American Classic Inspiration. The Vision is a step up from both.

You would be better off comparing the Vision to a CCRB Sentinal or Hammerhead CCR, (even a rEvo with a Shearwater or KISS with a VR3 URM at a stretch!)

IMO the Vision is underated and the Meg overated (I do not know why this is) both are capable and draw plenty of sales.

If/when the Meg much awaited 3rd generation software package arrives the balance may once again be readdressed, until then you are not comparing apples with apples.

Too busy packing to write a long post, but the above comment summarizes perfectly for me too (i.e. someone who dived Vision for a few years, went to the Meg, then went back).

Erm... Yes, now I reread it I see you had a similar point, you where just abit more brief about it

I had focussed on your HUD comment, which was a well made point, it is pretty much the only difference (IMVHO)

As an aside- what do your buddies dive?

In our club we have a couple of KISS's and a couple of Visions, on any one trip there is normally someone to share tanks and spares with and both units have very similar deco (KISS's have Shearwaters so GF all round).

These two much overlooked factors make diving as a group an easier and more pleasurable experience IMO.

Maybe thats no deal breaker but I think it should be a consideration... if you dive with Rebreather buddies.

Having been hit this past March by a 40 ton North Atlantic Humpback whale, I can assure you that your canister strength will be the least of your concerns!

Well, I cannot speak for the Megalodon, but the Inspiration is not so weak and it is strong enough for most of the dives.
