If the design allows the magnet to move out then its clearly a flawed design. If the glue is known to fail - dont use glue! design a glue free holder If users are breaking the magnet out through normal use, if you are aware of the potential for users to break it out during use then so is the mnf. isnt it better to fix the potential problem at source and make the design more robust?

In the meg design both primary and secondary battery boxes are the same - Ergo both share the potential for loss of power due to the way the magnets are held, so whats 'No' about that?

I regard potential fault that turns off my life support system without warning as a serious fault - but maybe im just yella

Re: Lights Out

Mike, neither magnet can fall out whilst in use. It can be assembled incorrectly if it is broken by the diver. The lack of power to the magnet...reed...system is apparent on startup.

Is that clear enough for you?

clear enough for me...and I dont even dive a meg.....Gilles, who does, apears a little less clear though

as in his reply hes clearly implying it could be the cause of this incident of the handset turning of during the dive - suggesting therefore that the fault may not be obviuous pre dive......perhaps hes not clear

I've never had the reed fall out during a dive, but it does come out sometimes during battery dis-assembly. I felt it could've been the cause of Patrick's problems.

I'm not very defensive about Meg. She's not perfect, and has some faults. IMO the sensor carriage design, unprotected leads to sensors, and kinda heavy.

Other than that, I dunno if there's another breather that woulda survived me for the last 2 years without any factory repair. Mine still works, but it's becoming time now for an upgrade and repairs. I don't think it could survive another plane ride in a soft bag.

Re: Lights Out

Patrick Just wondering if the source of the problem was ever identified or what did ISC have to say?

Try a KISS

I have to say if i lived in a place where logisticly it was dificult to send a unit for repair id just get a KISS type unit.

I dont know any one who has ever sent one of those back for repair
