Re: BMCL for a Meg

I just use a "dog bone" backplate, that way it give plenty of room for the lungs to expand even if there is gas in the wing. and you are dead right Mike placing the tee's is crucial to good operation.

Thanks Louis, this is exactly the setup I saw on DrMikes BOB and would love to get a set, but it was my understanding that DaveT no longer makes those...but definately I will contact him to verify. Had a KISS diver on the trip last weekend, and agree on the nice clean front!
You can just pop down to one of the canvas shops in little india (you know the street the street where you can literally buy everything) they can make up any nylon cloth CL cover you want to your design. Just sketch out what you want and they can make it in 24hrs. Reuse your CL linners.

Re: BMCL for a Meg

the distance between the two lungs is also important some of the er "modifications" that were made to my original design moved the lungs a little closer together, this of course depends on your size but if the distance is to narrow the lungs will be more restricted. and it also depends on how much gas you actually have in the wing and what type of wing it is. With my personal set of BMCL's I can fully inflate my wing (its a diverite recwing) on the surface and still breathe almost without feeling any resistance. The design of the wing means I can config it to push most of the volume to the lower half of the wing giving me more lift at the surface and less restriction on the lungs due to the fact that the lungs are effectively above the baulk of the wing expansion

Re: BMCL for a Meg

Would agree with Dave on the positioning of the "T"s .I have a set of bmcl that is a copy of Dave's & an inch out & it makes a difference .
I use a CD TDB wing with the top of the wing cabletied through the grommets to stop it pushing on the top part of the cl's . I can get a full breath on the surface with wing & dry suit fully inflated .
I decided I hated ots after 2 dives & set about changing & now I would not go back .
With regard to dil & O2 manual add I use the kit that John ( narked@90) made for me

Re: BMCL for a Meg

Have been diving my BMCLs for about a year now on my YBOD.

I use a converted Power Inflator for manual 02 add. I have it piped into my tee-piece via a 90 degree swagelock fitting and am very happy with it.

John makes a great piece of kit with his adaptor but I prefer the lower profile of my setup

Dive safe...

Hi Dave,

I'm interested in a pair of your BMCL if you can arrange production!

Regards,
Henrik

He has designed some lungs that look like they are in a small wing, he then suggested using a YBOD ADV and have two manual add made for the Dil and 02. It may be worth contacting him I would be very interested in doing the same as imho this is the worst part of the Meg. I dived a Kiss for 4 years and then bought a Meg and I find the lungs a real pain in the arse.

Louis
Hello Mate,

I'm curious... you bought a COPIS didn't you? What do you think you've gained (especially as you're now looking at BMCL) over and above your KISS?

Cheers

Rich
