Re: Does anyone do a Meg trimix manual?

Re manuals, I don't uderstand why someone hasn't come up with a CD/DVD with little hi-res video clips showing 'best practice'. There is the argument that this might lead to 'self-teaching' but I don't necessarily support this (the sort of person that doesn't get training would most probably get around this anyway). Alternatively, given the hi-tech world we live in I'm sure it would be possible to post these clips on a web-site (ISC? - Rebreather World?) and only allow access to registered (i.e qualified) users.

I'd be all for this if the manufacturers can organize it. It takes the onus off the instructor having to keep track of all their charges and keep them in the loop.

Please let me know what email address you used. Linda ( at andi hq) is generally very good with answering emails although it make take a few days....

Your fastest way to get the manual would be through ANDI Europe or ANDI UK... Ian is a good contact for both...

You should also call ISC and get a copy of thier factory manual its way better than the ANDI one.

cheers
Its good news that ISC is finally releasing a factory manual... The ANDI manual had to be done from scratch.. Some of the breakdown and repair points were intentionally omitted or just summarized because I did not want to encroach on the ISC factory tech program plus that not the point of the ANDI manual its meant as a student training manual and a reference point for common questions, if ISC starts encouracnging divers to do the more complex repairs I would ammend the manual appropriately....

Re: Does anyone do a Meg trimix manual?

Out of interest, Joe, why did you choose to leave out descriptions of how to calibrate and do positive and negative tests?

Solenoid teardown and DSV servicing is part of the end user curriculum.

Obviously, this is a manual for air diluent and NDLs. Is there a Meg manual for trimix and beyond? Shouldn't there be? Does anyone have any plans for one? It would be nice if there were a manual that clearly explained how to take the solenoid apart, how to make batteries, how to rewire the battery compartment to allow off-the-shelf batteries, how to do field repairs of common problems...It would be nice if there were an owner's manual of the kind of things that you don't need to know till you need to know them in a hurry.
Didn't you learn some (most?) of this in your Meg class? When I was in class we were taught how to do all of these things except for rewiring the battery compartment.
