How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can?

Hi Rebreather World

Yesterday I picked up my shiny new green movie meg can at Nortechdiving :-) I know the anodic coating is meant to take a beating, but I want to protect the bottom of the can as much as possible so it doesn't end up looking like my old one.

Did anyone find the perfect solution for this? I am not looking for a clumsy SS foot or something like that, I am thinking more like a rough protective rubber surface i can cut in a circle and has a sticky side like a sticker so it will glue to the bottom of the can.

I just can't seem to find a source for such a product anywhere where I live (Denmark)

Hope you can help me...

Safe diving

Christian

I used Line X to coat my rEvo cover, its permanent but it looks nice. LINE-X Spray-On Truck Bedliners...the ultimate truck accessory!

Re: How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can?

Just the bottom of the can or the body of the can as well? If you are only worried about the bottom portion, I used sticky backed velcro tape -- the soft side. I put it on the bottom and up about 3 inches on the side. This proctects the can from scratches, rubs and any other small bumps and dings and it also protects the sides where the 1st stages and the valves rub.

I think you should leave the rest of the can as-is because the little scratches and cuts you get here are like war wounds and make for good talk around the camp fire (plus you don't look like a rookie when you've got a few scratches on your can)

Cheers!

think of a Marine corps drill instructor voice

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT YOURSELF A LITTLE GIRLY REBREATHER
ONE THAT YOU HAVE TO BABY, AND TAKE GENTLE CARE OF, RECRUIT
MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST TAKE THAT PRETTY LITTLE NEW MEG CAN AWAY FROM YOU AND PUT SOME MANLY SCRATCHES ON IT
MAYBE YOU SHOULD JUST STAY ON THE PORCH WITH THE PUPPIES, WHILE THE BIG DOGS GO DIVING

PUT SOME BLOODY SCRATCHES ON THAT MEG CAN AND WEAR THEM PROUDLY, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED MISTER!

I've been proudly abusing my meg. I've even dropped it when I was passing it out of a boat from about 3.5' on to a concrete slab with no noticeable damage to my meg.

Too funny Ron Nothing looks better than a Meg full of scratches.
Every scratch has a story behind it, likes falling backward on your back in Mexico.

Cheers

Strap a Narked@90 stand to it. Not only will it protect it from the inevitable abuse I am sure you are going to inflict upon it, but it makes the Meg a whole lot easier to get on and off........Not to mention when you have to sit on the bench with it on for ages waiting to get into the soup!!

Regards,

Lance

Re: How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can?

Hi Again

Thank you for the replies. Here are my comments on the answers in order of appearance:

Tyler S: Looks like it could be used, I will look in to that.

Allan: I considered this solution, this will be my secondary option.

Zoo diver: Only the bottom of the can and perhaps 10mm up the side of the can. Velcro? it sounds like it will attract a lot of foreign objects ;-)

Ron: He he, I see your point lol. Well, I don't have a desire to destroy my equipment just to look like a B.A. diver. Also, by experience, I know the can will be easier to sell if I some day decide to buy something different.

Lance: Like i wrote in my first post, I am not interested in a stand, this solution would be to bulky and add extra weight.

More ideas are welcome....

Safe diving

Christian
