Hi Again Hmmmmm....You're a hard bugger to please.......Thank you for the replies. Here are my comments on the answers in order of appearance: Tyler S: Looks like it could be used, I will look in to that. Allan: I considered this solution, this will be my secondary option. Zoo diver: Only the bottom of the can and perhaps 10mm up the side of the can. Velcro? it sounds like it will attract a lot of foreign objects ;-) Ron: He he, I see your point lol. Well, I don't have a desire to destroy my equipment just to look like a B.A. diver. Also, by experience, I know the can will be easier to sell if I some day decide to buy something different. Lance: Like i wrote in my first post, I am not interested in a stand, this solution would be to bulky and add extra weight. More ideas are welcome.... Safe diving Christian It sounds to me like you could be a Kiwi......How about a Lamb's wool canister protector......Soft and warm and will remind you of home? Lance

Lance will this also help keep my scrubber nice and warm in Scandinavian waters and thereby increase scrubber duration? If yes, I would consider.... ;-) Christian

| Apprentice Meg Pilot Current Rebreather/s: | Re: How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can? Strap a Narked@90 stand to it. Not only will it protect it from the inevitable abuse I am sure you are going to inflict upon it, but it makes the Meg a whole lot easier to get on and off........Not to mention when you have to sit on the bench with it on for ages waiting to get into the soup!! Still haven't got mine set up - once my ali backplate/STA arrives I'll chuck it on and give it a whirl.Regards, Lance p.s. my handsets are scratched, my can is scratched, the tops of my battery holders have dents in them, my HUD looks like the brother-in-law's dog chewed on it. There is a reason I bought a Meg - and a second hand one at that. I break things ![]() EDIT: re the insulation, I guess the fibre reinforced plastic can isn't ready yet - is that another will they or won't they have it in time for DEMA question? |

Hi Again Oh No it doesn't...Lance: Like i wrote in my first post, I am not interested in a stand, this solution would be to bulky and add extra weight. My trusty Narked @ 90 stand has protected my Meg from Day 1. It has been used as an Armadillo for more than one stage tank such as a 5.7L ally tank and I can also use it to place a additional bottle, such as a 3L for my 30 - 40m range, where things are out of the way when I am using my camera rig. I am going to use a 13 or 19 cu ft ally tank though because it is NOT as long and doesn't stick out as much. Here are the pics. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can? Oh No it doesn't... Yes it does, I disagree with you. I want my rig to be as streamlined as possible. This is why i sold my standard can and 3l. tanks and bought a movie can and 2l. tanks instead.Sorry, but IMHO the narkedat90 stand only destroys the streamlined design of the meg and that's not the solution that I am looking for. I am only 5 foot 7" tall and a stand will nearly touch the ground when i stand up ;-) However, I see the benefits of the stand for protection and the ability to carry the extra tank, nothing more, just not what i need! Christian

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: How do I avoid scrathes on the bottom of my new movie meg can? I found the Narked@90 stand a bit too tall for me too. Before I got my new stand, I was using a 10L cylinder boot which I'd cut down. This worked fine, and added a little bit of height to the unit to help kit up. You can have it if you want, but I have a feeling it might cost silly money to post to you.. ![]() |

This is why i sold my standard can and 3l. tanks and bought a movie can and 2l. tanks instead. I am a little confused... ![]() The Movie and Standard cans have the same diameter. So are the 2L and 3L tanks (of same brand). Those add up to give you a drag profile (i.e. cross-sectional area) while you are swimming in the horizontal position. And they are the same. The only thing really different between the Movie/Standard and 2L/3L tanks are a few inches of length - which doesn't affect the hydrodynamic profile in any degree that matters to us. You and I are about the same height, and even I think the standard can with 3L tank combination is a little short for me since the load rests on my lower back. I have bought a round custom-made stand (from Jakub), but being too lazy to mount it on. But that should help distribute the load more on my butts to relieve the pain on my back after a long dive.
