Sony is making them itself - as your news clipping says. Toshiba and Matsushita are other makers, and parts maker Sumitomo Chemical is planning to move downstream into production with its Cambridge Display Technologies acquisition. They don't have much alternative to OLED, given Sharp's domination of high-end LCDs. Japanese mobile 'phone makers like KDDI are using Japanese-made OLEDs.

I read that as Sony is making the TV themselves. Never expected them to make the actual OLED too.

I wonder why we have to be so ironic. Produced or not, OLED is supeb choice for underwater instruments displays. Those who have not seen live such a piece (I have) should not be skeptical. Mr Raymaker has a point about power consumption but its a matter of approach since Liquivision is also (maybe) the first rechargeable dc. In fact Mr Fatah (Liquivision) dares to add many innovations to his products and I am with him all the way since the F1. F1 was designed for free divers with no mask but fluid googles for competition free diving. The X1 software upgradeability is also a critical step forward. These characterestics are standard for portable devices anyway and its time for diving electronics to follow and broaden user capabilities.
I hope it will evolute as a product and survive the market storm.
