From an operational point of view a display with the characteristics of an oled (if it was reliable in the first place ) would be far more useful than most other types... |

The main OLED manufacturer in the world went belly up... (just look at all your normal dislay suppliers, they all have dropped most of their oled products) There are a few others producing color OLED and some graphic single color oleds.. The large "cell" OLEDs were very power efficient but sadly both them and the even better pleds are currently history... It would take between 1-2 years for a startup to replace them.. I'm intrigued who you think is the world's biggest maker, but if you mean Cambridge Display Technologies (ticker OLED), though it did go bankrupt, it was bought by Sumitomo Chemical last month. It's not the end of display technologies just because no US companies are significnt players anymore. It is also interesting that just today the Nikkei newspaper carried a front-page story about Sony starting sales of 11-inch OLED TVs from 1 December. At 3mm thick, it sounds quite attractive.Last edited by Abbo : 1st October 2007 at 08:57. |

Most of the remaining OLED producers are producing color displays for the most part which are much more power hungry than the large cell displays that were replacing typical LCDs.. OLEDs are not dead but the one that for us were the best have been dropped for the most part.. PLED is a closely related technology The type of display I am talking about is commonly called "Large molecule passive matrix" I knew about cambrdge display tech, but thats not the one I was thinking about.. Right now the name evades me but the manufacturer was in asia.. Also OSRAM ceased production and closed their plant in malaysia

![]() | Re: Can any one tell me when the new 3.0 meg software will be available Salutes to all, I wanted to know if it is possible to modernize meg version 2,5 (as soon as acquired) to version 3.0. If it is possible, it is necessary to change to all the head or solo the pendant? The price? You excuse me for my English bad one. Ugo |
