Meg stolen or lost on 8-26

For what it's worth, i flew from Philadelphia to Miami to dive the keys on the 26th I had my meg well packed in a Tumi bag and checked it at philly. Thats the last anyone saw of it including USair. No big deal it was well insured but it will be a hassel getting a new one, setting it up and tweaking it. USair has no record of it after check in. It had a Golem gear BOV, tiger mounts etc... and was less than 6 months old.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Knowing USAir as I do flying on them almost weekly, your Meg has probably been miss tagged and is hop scotching between LaGuardia, Pittsburg and Charlotte on various 737's.

Best of Luck!

Sorry to hear your bad news, but using an expensive bag like TUMI is probably drawing the attention.

Same for zipper dive bags that scream "expensive scuba gears inside".

Do you have the serial number handy?
It is not a very common item and it's likely to surface somewhere one of these days...(maybe even be returned to you!!)

Dive safe,

Celia

I have 2 pelican cases for it but I packed it in the Tumi so as to not draw attention to it.... 1/2 the bags on the carousel are tumi or tumi type wheeled suiters.

Sorry to hear it, but that is the reason I always pack my meg in carry on. Hopefully is gonna come back to you after flying around half of the world.
By the way what kind of insurance you used to fully cover your Meg?

I'm not optamistic about it turning up, it's been 7 full days and the airline still (as of this morning) has no idea where it is. I've traveled once or twice a month 14 or 15 trips a year for about 20 years, half business half recreational.... some both and i've never totaly lost a bag. A few times a bag may miss a flight or connection and been delivered to the hotel that night or the next day but never totally MIA for a week. I think it's gone.

the insurance is $3k from the airline (their max liability) the difference made up by my homeowners.

It's good that your homeowner's policy will cover it. I've heard that that if you dive for work (i.e. instructor or diving scientist) a homeowner's policy won't cover any dive gear, since it would be considered business related. Any experience with that?

Miracles could still happen. I once had a bag with some photo equipment worth about 12.000 US$ turn up after 16 days. Absolutly unharmed, nothing missing. You could still get lucky.
