Re: Is this a problem?

Looks like that the "bending protector" is torn. You should fix it or you might eventually get your cable broken also. The best fix could be to use somekind of vulcanising tape that would make that part of the cable a little stiffer. The idea is to limit the bending radius of the cable.

Re: Is this a problem?

It could be a problem. From the picture I'd say the cable has an incision as well just not deep enough to let water in. (but you be the judge of that)
Not sure wether aquasure really bonds. But if it does then I suggest wrapping with self-vulcanising rubber tape for a bit of strength. (3M and a few more brands have it) This stuff should be everyones field kit anyway.

Hi JB

It could be a problem, I canīt see how deep the cut is.

You can send your head to me and I will fix it for you. (for a small fee).

I have all parts in stock, if in worst case that the cable should be replaced.

Cheers

RL

Re: Is this a problem?

p.s that white stripe inbetween the cut looks to be a stressmark to me, and not a cut... YET!

Hi Jonny. Try to find some self amalgamating tape and use it for a temporary fix.

You should be able to get that from hardware stores or plumbing suppliers.

Cheers,
George

Re: Is this a problem?

Its just shrink tube guys, no cause for concern. The cable is serious mil-spec heavy duty, cost about $16/foot. the seal is made with the swage inside the SS fitting and all the shrink tube does is form the cable in the desired direction. You cannot replace the HS tubing w/o disassembling, desoldering, and otherwise trashing the handset(or headwiring) so if y'all want to tape it up, fine, but it isnt going to cause a problem to leave it be. Only if you can see copper, through the cable, is there going to be any problem.
