![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | boot for meg can? Hey folks, does anyone know of a simple solution for fitting a boot to the meg can? Before the bottom of our cans get all scratched up i'd like to find a protective boot for them. I know there are various protective coatings that can be sprayed on, in particular a truck bed liner, but i'd like something I can put on and replace down the line as it gets worn...like a tank boot. thanks!

I had a bunch of AL 80's boots laying around and tried to get the meg plenum into one, lo and behold it fits very well, it is easily removed for rinsing and if it comes off and you lose it it's no big loss.... The boot is one of the soft ones that come with Luxfer AL 80's. I am thinking the truck bedliner route may be better since it will also provide some degree of thermal insulation. My 2 c's. Dive safe, Celia

I'll look into getting a 10L tank boot. His quote is below. very nice indeed. here is a pic of what i did with my can. i had a 10L steel tank that i did not like... so i took off the boot, cut it down and here is the result. i must tell you that this way, the meg got "taller", so the tanks are able to come further down. don't like those tank sticking up like that. What do you think? very cheap, very easy. ![]()

It sort of takes away from a cave/wreck diving experience to be constantly worried if "I'm going to scratch my nice shiny Meg can". I just put a pretty good scratch in it today as a matter of fact and I'm sure it won't be the last. Scott |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: boot for meg can? At first I thought it to be a bit of "heresy" to inadvertently put a scratch my can, but in retrospect, and in agreement with Scott's comments, (see Sensor330 above) worrying about my Meg does take a bit out of the experience of a CCR dive. Besides, short of falling down on the rocks with my Meg on my back, I really don't think it can be harmed to any visible degree <a bit of quasi sarcy intended>. I have several additional things to enjoy and worry about on a dive...my PO2 for one. I will let my Meg handle the other protection/functionality concerns all by itself, as it was designed to do.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: boot for meg can? I have cut a circle from the 'headlight protector' stuff from auto shops. About 165 mm diameter from memory. Its clear and thick and has an adhesive and is very strong. Made also protectors for the controller screens, and the VR3. Bore some holes around the screws as it sticks down. Dive pressure will clear up the glue. |
