I just added one when I went to take my course with Gregg in Wakuall, very easy, if you can place a sintered filter in a regulator you can do this too.

Unlikely that it will keep water out but then on, why would you have water in your oxygen line anyway.....

The most common source of water (moisture) on a meg woud be the O2 QC being connected wet which I try to avoid by all means. Another would be contaminated O2 fills. Either way it would be mostly accidental and in small quantities but in a pure O2 environment that solenoid is going to oxidate really fast with a lot less moisture than say in air.
A moisture filter may help in extending the life of the solenoid but of course I have no way to prove it, just an assumption.
