![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Question to the MK15 series experts I want to wire up a MK16 digital Secondary to one (possibly two RD10) cells in another rebreather. My first question is do I need to wire in some resistors such as those used in the original horseshoe board, or is this only needed if I wire in more than one cell? ) I know squat about electronics so please forgive if this is a stupid question) No solenoid. Second question is will filling the (MK16 Digital) secondary with oil screw it up? or does anyone know what its rated at without? Third question - I guess (If I need to) I can use the same size resistors as the MK15 did? Just in case I cant find the diagram any idea what they were and where they go? Cheers Mike

Yes, and no. See below. My first question is do I need to wire in some resistors such as those used in the original horseshoe board, Quote: Second question is will filling the (MK16 Digital) secondary with oil screw it up? or does anyone know what its rated at without? I'm not sure what depth the 16 2ndry is capable of, but judging by the plastic moulding thicknesses, I'd say not nearly as deep as the old analogue. I don't know of any being taken past about 90 metres. As to filling it with oil, give it a try, if it works, it works, if it doesn't you've wrecked a very expensive but not very good bit of kit. Personally I don't like those things, too iffy on the battery connections and on/off switch, and they eat batteries nearly as fast as a Hammeroid. Quote: Third question - I guess (If I need to) I can use the same size resistors as the MK15 did? Just in case I cant find the diagram any idea what they were and where they go? Mk15 horseshoe is a 300 ohm resistor in the negative (red wire) line to the secondary, Bendix Pins 1,2,3 for sensors 1,2,3 respectively, and the positives (black wire) all joined together on Bendix Pin 4.The Primary side of the horseshoe is the same except it uses 510 ohm resistors. As you aren't using a Primary pod/board, you'll need to give the sensors a load so the temp compensation works properly. The spec is for a 6k resistor across the sensor, but a 10k works perfectly. Cheers, Jason. Last edited by koputai : 1st February 2007 at 21:24. |
