The displays can be either left or right cable entry, they are designed to be so, but this has to be specified before delivery. Once the units are together, that's it.

Just a quick comment, and don't know if it will apply...

Could the cable to the display be increased (if there is enough room in the case) so that the user could simply open the case and rotate the display to flip the side at a later time perhaps ?

Sorry, I'm afraid not. Once the electronics are in, the front of the case is bonded together and no further access is possible. 'No user servicable parts inside' as they say. Software updates can still be performed via the rear battery access.
