Hey Rob:

Are you using the red/green one, or the multi-LED mini-primary?

I made a clip out of Delrin, made a full circle "donut" on the lathe, cut off enough to have a snap-on "C" shaped bit, and then drilled a hole thru what was left and used a setscrew to hold the HUD.

Guess what I found out (you're not gonna like this):

I liked the LED wrist display Primary so much better that I went back to it. My buddy can see it from many feet away, and I can roll it down under my arm (it's on surgi-tube) to get it out of my view in dark water. The thing is STILL bright enough to see the "Green" reflecting back from the water in turbid water after I do that.

Didn't they send the little tie-wrap on mount with the thing? It actually works pretty well.

Re: Colkan HUD - mounting ideas ??

Sounds like a nice clean mount, but unfortunately I don't have the tools to build one like that.
What didn't you like about it ? Having a HUD & less stuff on my arms seems like a win/win to me.

This is the mount I was sent (thats not my HUD but the 2 LED version in the photo) seems a tad flimsy, hence my question.

Thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,

I have a lathe and milling machine. Let me know your design and I would be willing to try make one for you if it is straightforward.

I have quite a bit of plastic solid rod at my place already (delrin, acetal, pvc, teflon etc....).

If it is just a matter of turning and boring it should not be too big of a deal.

I have to make one to mount my Subsea Systems Hud on a Golem BOV anyway.

Re: Colkan HUD - mounting ideas ??

Don't know. Never saw it, but you have thick flat piece of delrin on topso you can drill, grind off to make it fit, i would think.
Beats making it from scratch if you do not have the right tools.

Re: Colkan HUD - mounting ideas ??

The little widgets that Col would have sent you actually work very well on my Golem BOV. Only issue is you cut the cable ties if you want to free the HUD from the BOV entirely. No big deal, I rarely do that.
