| Sealing a MK15 scrubber Is everyone just taping them up, or is there any better mousetraps out there ? Would be nice to have something as secure without having to use the old "duct tape & binder twine" type of solution ! Cheers, Rob |

Hi Rob,Would be nice to have something as secure without having to use the old "duct tape & binder twine" type of solution ! Cheers, Rob I'm no fan of the "electrical tape" solution. Luckily there is another way. Try a wheelbarrow innertube. A size 4.10/3.50-5 innertube will work nicely. Just cut off the "inner diameter" half of the tube, leaving the largest diameter portion intact. This will make a nice rubber band that you can use to seal the scrubber. In my experience you'll have to buy several brands and just try them out to get the best "elasticity" and fit. It is worth it though. One thing I like about this solution is that if you omit the scrubber seal, you'll have the innertube "left over", hopefully reminding you to disassemble and fix the problem! No reminder left over with the tape-seal solution. Lee |

| Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber Hi Rob, Dan Crowell got me using 3M #88 electrical tape (available from McMaster-Carr), it is over a inch wide ,waterproof and doesn't leave a residue. The problem with the elastic bands is when they "go" you lose the entire seal around the scrubber. Plus the big rubber bands are better to use as "heavy artillery" in a office rubber band war. Regards, Carl Is everyone just taping them up, or is there any better mousetraps out there ? | Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber I'm of the "belt and suspenders" crowd. I use some 1.5 inch electrical tape that I found at Wal-Mart and a natural rubber band. Frankly, the electrical tape is the best and most reliable solution because it is unlikely to fail. With the wide diameter tape, I can go around two times and be very secure about not having any bypass issues. Aloha, C |

| Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber 1.5 inch wide electrical tape. 100% reliable. Cheap. Takes about 5 seconds to use. What's there not to like? Dave . |

| Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber I use the 1.5" tape on both Dave & Carl's recommendations. I was very sceptical at first but it's worked fine for the last 6mths (OK, a very titchy sample by a lot of users' experience), cold water, down to 90m, up to 2.5hrs a dive. Same as Carl I use 3M Super 88, it's very sticky and seems to stand up to damp environments well but here in the UK it's expensive (~$18 a roll). I do make sure I change it at the end of every diving day though. Cheers, Stuart |

That is what I've been preaching since before most anyone knew what a Mark 15 looked like.Aloha, C ![]() Hal Gartner used a lawn tractor inner tube, cut on the bias for his outer seal - that works in a pinch, and would not be a bad thing to toss in your dive kit as an emergency spare. :) Just don't let UPS deliver it, eh Rob...? ;) Kevin. |

| Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber Thanks for all the input guys, appreciate it. I knew there had to be something that didn't cost an arm & a leg on these units !! With all the Mil spec components put into one of these units, I just felt there had to be a better way. But what works, works. Kev, you're right. Hate to see what UPS could manage to do to roll of tape But that experiance would require a whole new thread. Have to thank you & Trish again for coming through for me, very impressed,Cheers, Rob |

| Re: Sealing a MK15 scrubber yup yup... tape the inner gas path, tractor inner tube the outer cover to the center section. I use the 1.25inch electrical tape from ACE Hardware; uber cheap and never had any problems! hoppy |
