![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: mk15.5 WOB and scrubber duration test report compared to mk15 I do notice significantly more WOB on my 15 than I do on my 15.5. I have fitted a MK 16 DSV and hoses to my 15, so the hoses are not the reason. Unless you widen the openings from the center section, it will never breathe like a 15.5 or 16. The canister duration does not surprise me either as there is significantly more sorb and thermal protection in a 15.5/16 canister than in a 15. Thanks for the link. There are also some really good articles here if you search for "MK 16": Public STINET (Scientific and Technical Information Network) At that link, you can find pricelists, parts lists, and a bunch of studies. Pretty cools stuff. Aloha, Charlie

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: mk15.5 WOB and scrubber duration test report compared to mk15 Hi Mike, Out of interest, how does the 1.97J/L figure (MK15.5 w/Rexnord mouthpiece and MK16 hoses) compare with more modern units such as the Boris, Meg or Inspiration? I'm using a Boris hoses and Boris DSV on my Mk15.5 and wob seems good, but that's very subjective. Cheers, Paul

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: mk15.5 WOB and scrubber duration test report compared to mk15 Thanks Mike. It's pleasing to know that my unit is at the right end of the graph. I find it quite incredible that rebreather loop design in general hasn't improved in the 28 years since the Mk16 (Mk15.5 centre section) was designed. In fact it looks like it's gone backwards! Paul

In fact it looks like it's gone backwards! True, but some would argue the validity of this test. The difference in resistance is so small compared to the resistance resulting from the angle of the unit in the water or the hydrostatic effects on the unit. Anyway, I'm not complaining or anything (except that I still think the SK is a pretty damned good little unit). Paul Aloha, Charlie
