![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | NiMH Battery Packs (rechargable) for Mark-15's If I managed to get rechargable NiMH battery packs and chargers made for the 18-cell Mark-15 pods, who would want them? Cost is <absolutely no clue> but for the well heeled Mark-15 diver, a pair of these and a charger would save loads of soldering. Interest? Dave .

My electronics were S-J first gen digitals-feeding the power sucking original solenoid- that ran on the original +12V/center tap/-12V packs. Problem I had to deal with: NiMH is a nominal 1.2 V cell vs. 1.5 V for alkaline. That dictated 22 cells, not 18 and 22 AAs just couldn’t be crammed into my pod. Solution was to drop down to AAA cells- the best I could find. That was 800 mah at the time, but 1000 mah is the norm these days. Worked great! Simple “intelligent” chargers can be had these days for under $40, and 1000 mah AAA NiMH cells can be had for as little as $1.04 each in suitable quantity Ni-MH Batteries - AAA Size Series Batteries . Molex bits- or however you connect- from DigiKey would bring parts in at under $100. Ken

Carl (Sartek) says no problem, he is on vacation next two weeks. He suggests that we simply use (2) 8-cell AA battery holders and a total of 16 disposable AA's... and says that the solenoid fires fine with this voltage. I'm diving Mark-15 next week (Have a guest diving the rEvo, so I need to suffer... ) and so tonight I'll make one of these and report.Ken, thanks for the skinny on the AAA's as well. Dave .
