| Swimmin' upstream Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Cooper Hoses... whose jealous? Yeah, my cross-dressing days are behind me (at least for the rest of the week). Sorry to hear that. About the cross-dressing...I broke them in this afternoon. They were a bit floaty, but I need to fine-tune the positioning etc. Any ideas for a decent weight system to pull them down a bit? C They are floaty cause you had to go with that mondo inner diameter. I think you can get lead weight in 1/4 in. dia. by however long bars at a good fishing supply store. Take that and rap it around your fancy crush proof hoses why dont you. ![]() It won't be pretty...but you aren't much to look at anyway. ![]() |

I think you can get lead weight in 1/4 in. dia. by however long bars at a good fishing supply store. I found some good stainless steel rings at West Marine. The 2" ID is nearly perfect. I held them in place on my dive today with a couple of big O-rings. I am Plastidiping them now to make them fit perfectly. West Marine also has other sizes that may work well for yours.Aloha, Charlie

I've seen a set of these with a great big hole in them on the Boris of a well known diver and skipper who sometimes frequents this forum. It could have been a duff batch I guess but has anybody else experienced that problem? I guess the fact you can't compress them easily rules out pinching your hose in water if checking a DSV mushroom valve or indeed doing that reverse o2 flush thingy Ron showed me lately. The Meg hoses are pretty tough as they stand so I question whether these would really be an upgrade.

Ohhh...you're just jealous! ![]() I tend to listen to my mushroom valves more than I test them by squeezing the hoses. Actually, I think you are more likely to create a problem (especially with some DSVs) by putting excessive pressure on the mushroom valve. I have seen them push into the retaining frame and get stuck there when someone did a similar test (fortunately on dry land where it was more obvious what had happened). I know guys who have Cooper hoses that are 10 years old and they are still solid. I like them because I think they are more solid for climbing around wrecks, but I could be wrong. I would be interested in any stories of failures on them. Any idea how the hold was made in the Boris set?
