DSV Hoses and Adaptors

Hi all,

I need new DSV hoses for my MK 15.0 because they have those wispy little leaks on them. My rig has the ORIGINAL hose mounts. These are smaller than the MK 15.5 or 16 hose mounts. The original hoses were too big on that end and this time around I would prefer something that fits snugly. I have a divematics DSV (Correct me if I'm wrong on that, Kevin). There was also talk on the old list about adaptors that fit the larger hose diameter, I need to know if they are still out there and available.

Ron.

Re: DSV Hoses and Adaptors

R.E. Darling made the original Mk-15 hoses - still makes CCR hoses, best quality & non-collapsible, my understanding is they are expensive though:

Life Support Hose Assemblies

Other option is get the Mk-16 adaptors then you can use Meg hoses....

Re: DSV Hoses and Adaptors

Hi Ron-

Good to see another name here from the old Rebreather list. Would help if you gave the actual diameter hose cuff you are looking for. When I built my own BOV I sized the ends to fit the spare MK15 hoses I had on hand at the time, 1.90 inches. I later bought some Megalodon hoses (different length) w/ a 1.75 inch diameter cuff and had no real problem stretching them to fit.

Hope this helps,

Ken S.

Re: DSV Hoses and Adaptors

I should have some 1inch ID Cooper Hoses to spare soon... provide my new hoses get made...

These fit great with the original center section connectors and to both a Dreager Ray DSV as well as the original Scott(?) DSV, I have a set up with both DSVs...

I will let you know when/ if I get the new hoses and can then get rid of a set of the old ones!

Hi Ron,

The adapters can be made using the nuts off of your old fittings, but it takes a leap of faith to hacksaw them off your old fittings. But once you do it, you end up making a two piece fitting and silver-soldering them together. Imagine taking the existing spool of your adapter and turning it in a lathe to remove the little ridge that prevent the hose clamps from slipping off when tightened. The imagine a second pice made out of brass that slips OVER that like a telescope, with a larger outer diameter for the larger hose. Slide one over the other and silver solder. It works great, and allows the Mark-15.5/6 hoses to fit. You can also open up the inner diameter to a diameter larger than the old one. Mine do not re-use the old spool, they use two newly made pieces and re-use the old nut. If you need photos, shout.

Tracy ought to be able to make them up. I'd ask him to make a run of about 20 pieces, as there are several guys who want them. I'd take two sets (4 pieces) myself. He can make new nuts too, so you don't need to hack up your old ones.

Dave
Any solution that requires you to apply a hacksaw to your nuts is scary .

Seriously, I'll call Tracy and see what he can do. Thanks, Dave.

Ron.
