![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: MK 15 or CCR1000 counterlung diameter and depth I am sure that others can comment on this better than I; however, there are several different counter lungs (CL). Not necessarily for a Mk15 per se, but the different variants of the rig (PP1/ CCR1000/ Mk15/ Mk15.5/ Mk16) do have some different sizes... for example; the rig I am currently using the CL is slightly smaller than my tidal volume (which means that if I inhale as deep as I can, the ADV will fire... conversely if I exhale as deep as I can the OPV will open). DZLHED has like 3 or 4 breaths in his CL... I can only assume that other variations exist... after all that, while mine is not readily available, the depth, edge to bottom of my CL is about 3 inches... some of that depth is used to seal the CL to the center section... hope that helps, I am sure more will comment... hoppyinca |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: MK 15 or CCR1000 counterlung diameter and depth Thanks for the info. The depth sounds about right, now I just need the diameter. FYI, the reason I ask is that I may have found a replacement CL for my BMR 500 (from a mk 15 - it needs to be patched though as it apparently it has a small hole in it) to solve the exact same problem you describe about not being able to get a full breath w/o triggering the ADV on inhale and the opv / exhaust valve on exhale. Just trying to determine if the MK 15 lung has the same diameter to see if it will fit the BMR. Leon at ISC told me that some BMR's had this problem and that a quick solution is to raise the center section slightly (about a 1/4"), which is easily done on the BMR by making small spacers that fit under the center section brackets. I am concerned that doing so will increase the WOB though. Anyone know the diameter of the MK 15 lung? BTW, Dave, did you get a chance to measure the threads of the MK 15 loop hose connectors? Thanks again, Marc |

Thanks again, Marc This is how guys (like Hal Gartner) got more volume in their loop. Try that first - you'll probably be surprised, and it's cheaper than modifying/building a counterlung. And Chad: The 15, 15.5, and 16 all use the same lung. Once you build it good, you never have to change it... ![]() Kevin. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: MK 15 or CCR1000 counterlung diameter and depth Thanks for the info Kevin I think the other issue I am having is that the BMR is currently using a Biopak lung, which I believe is a little different in design to the BMR or MK series lung, as the BP lung has what I can only describe as pleats in it, if that makes any sense at all, and sits inverted in the center section such that it is bottomed out until you exhale into it (I think this is a result of the Biopak being designed as a postive pressure rig).
