I would like to know, will the (WOB) be easier on the Kiss Classic with over the shoulder counterlungs then back mount conterlungs, if so how much % ?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH,
You, my friend, have hit on THE reason for the project.

There are many elements associated with WOB, with just 1 being location.

The purpose of this project is to have a **simple** way of demonstrating the pro's and con's of EACH configuration.

Now - You might be thinking "why would a person do that for his own personal use?". The answer is, he wouldn't do it for his own "personal" use. Once he found a configuration he liked, that's what he'd use. But this ISN'T for my own personal use

How will you block the normal counter lung connections?
Not sure yet, but I've emailed some people "in-the-know" about how to do it

cheers

I have a friend who specifically wants a way to demonstrate back mounted lungs versus over the shoulder WITHOUT changing the rest of the rebreather for academic purposes.

For me, it means that I get to play with my tools (and hopefully not go blind ) - I end up with a working prototype that I can choose the counter lung location that best suits me.

Personally, I like the idea of the OTS CL's and being able to get water out of the system.

(yes, it's on my dime, but I'm having fun )

Re: Over the Shoulder KISS - Convertible - Projects (pics)

I then drilled and relief cut it to clear the back mount counter lungs:

Then I got ready to place the 6" outer tube. This serves the dual purpose of protecting the head and scrubber and adding weight to the frame:

Then I TIG'd the tube in place, along with the side supports:

For the cylinder mounts, I really liked the Northern Divers mounting system, which are used on some Megs. I got a set, and then "Modified" them (don't watch if you don't like carnage )

I cut the ends off because they wouldn't be needed for this build.
To keep things simple, I welded thread stainless to the tube - This let me mount the cylinder mounts without interfering with the inside of the tube, which already have VERY minimal clearances around the scrubber:

This setup allows you to remove the cylinders or scrubber independently - A HUGE help when you are just reloading sorb, or need a fill.

And the completed setup:

I dive the Prism Topaz, and find the work of breathing “Incredibly Great” do to the Radial Scubber and over the shoulder conterlungs. The fact that you have modify your Kiss, interests me because I here some many excellent things about the Kiss and how they work. Please let us how the project turns out. Do you know if others that have done this change over to the Cunterlungs on a Kiss ?

HERE
Ron (Deep Thought) wore his setup during my class and it was pretty cool.
I also saw some pics on here a while back of Mel (Scubagrunt) wearing the mod, but can't find it.

Yes, did that 5-6 (?) years ago when I was still diving the KISS. Personally, I like the BMCL much better.

Someone asked about blocking the holes for BMCL coming from scrubber head ? I still have 2 Delrin plugs made to do that (still lying in the dive room). Just make them the same threads as the Jetsam CL parts with same o-ring location.

I think I mentioned this before.

Has anyone ever tried connecting the hoses to the BMCL's ? The MSR bags wouldn't be suitable but the head towers wouldn't be needed and any water in the hoses could be drained into the CL's.

I don't know what effect it would have on WOB.
