| ck display tits up hi all ok here is my story ,sad but true. ive changed over display batteries and on the centre display found that when it was put back in the housing and turned on ,it read a minus figure .i have tried the display on the other connectors and it still reads minus !,so its not the wire because when the other displays were tried on the centre, they worked fine. Any ideas ? many thanks Ray |

| Re: ck display tits up The usual problem with these seems to be moisture, I guess it could move around on handling to replace batteries. I suspect it is moiture on the miniature potentiometer that you adjust to calibrate which causes the problem. Try blowing with compressed air and then leaving somewhere warm (not hot) and dry for a few hours. You say it gives a -ve display, is that -1, or some variable value? Neil

| Re: ck display tits up ive changed over display batteries and on the centre display found that when it was put back in the housing and turned on ,it read a minus figure If it isn't moisture then it sounds like the signal from the sensor isn't being picked up. That might mean a broken wire or it might mean the sensor has gone funny (you have tried the sensor on other displays?). If you've pulled the board out of the housing to change the battery then you may have broken the connection between the wire(s) from the sensor and the board. Test for continuity between the board connections and the sensor plug at the other end if you can't see anything obvious. The wires are quite fine and it isn't that hard to break one.Cheers, Stuart

If it reads the right numbers (likely PPO2) but minus... then it could be that the plug is on the sensor the wrong way round, stupid sounding I know but try it. Otherwise check the battery voltage... KISS handsets need good batteries IME, a New battery is not necessarily a good one. Best of Luck, BEN

| Re: ck display tits up With those readings, thats an open connection. Either a broken wire or a buggered connection.

Yeah sorry to say it but Sutty's right on the money. I ended up with new displays following this as it couldn't be "dried" enough seemingly :-(How old are your display cases, early batches of the 3rd gen (clear case type) are very prone to leaking but Jetsam are very helpful on this.
