| Diluent cylinders Hi all, I'll be getting my CK very shortly and I'm just in the process of sorting out my cylinders. Taking into account the constant O2 feed, is it still ok to have Nitrox in your Dil cylinder? I know the Dil should be ok for bail out, but I not quite sure what effect the extra O2 in Nitrox will have. You may think its a "numpty" question, but I'm new to Rebreather's and my mind's muddling over this one. Cheers, Charlie |

| Re: Diluent cylinders I assume you'll have separate bailout anyway either connected to the BOV or from a separate regulator. But yes your diluent must be safely breathable and functional. Breathable would mean a good fraction of O2 allowing you to breath safely on the surface and yet low enough to bot get toxed at your target depth. With functional I mean that it has to be able to dilute your O2 enough to lower your pP02 when needed. ( E.g. EAN32 won't do that at 34m) Compressed air seems to do both reasonably well. You could opt to use e.g. EAN32 in your bailout while using air in your diluent tank. If you are not happy with this then Trimix may be an option at some point in time. (E.g. At 40m using EAN28 may not take away enough of the narcosis when you most need that) If you've learned to dive in the shalows then you'll find diving deeper is simpler (in term of boyancy and keeping you pP02 constant) so I can only advice you to stay in the shallows for a while.... Have fun

| Re: Diluent cylinders Hi Dutchy, thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your comments and have taken them on board. Yes, I'll be carrying a sidemount. I should have made it clear, why I started the thread really. I just need to know if cylinder I'm going to use for the Diluent needs to be O2 cleaned and wasn't sure about the combined effects of O2. Cheers |

For MOD1 no need to have it cleaned because of the air dil..... Mine was when I got it and I kept it like that which proves so be a good thing now that I'll have it filled with partially blended trimix... Cheers Basically it's no different than it was when you did EANx.What I do not understand is the combined effects part in your post???

| Re: Diluent cylinders Hi Dutchy, What I meant by "combined" was, the combined constant O2 feed and Diluent together, For example, if you happened to manually add O2 at the same time the ADV fires - could this prove a problem? I don't enough about fine tuning of Rebreather's. I'm ok with the general operation of them - I think!! Charlie |

| Re: Diluent cylinders You'll find out soon enough I know I hated the pool part and couldn't get it right. Just don' get discouraged when it it doesn't feel right, right away...
